💥With the US-Iran conflict and the conflict in Yemen very likely meaning a tough winter ahead for British households, the fact that Andy Burnham has delayed a decision over Jackdaw is astounding.
🏭Jackdaw could be supplying gas to 1.4 million homes by Christmas.
💪It would strengthen our energy security, protect vital jobs and raise tax revenues.
🥀Instead, Labour's electoral interests come before the national interest. Shameful!

Labour delayed Jackdaw because they’re scared to lose votes.

This decision is common sense. It shouldn’t come second to Labour’s own self-interest. Jackdaw must be approved - now.

❗In case you missed it this week, in a massive U-turn, the Labour Government has scrapped Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Essex!
🗳This means that changes to Unitary Authorities are being reconsidered, so elections for Uttlesford District Council and Chelmsford Council, currently controlled by Residents for Uttlesford (R4U) and the Liberal Democrats respectively, will proceed on existing council boundaries in May 2027.
🫵This is where YOU come in.
😠Residents in these areas are starting to realise that both these parties are not delivering and recent by-elections show that the Conservative Party has real momentum.
🌳Under Kemi's leadership, we are looking for new talent and local champions who believe in public service and who want to do what's right for their neighbours and their local community.

Leader of the Conservative group at Essex County Council, Cllr Lee Scott said:

“Labour’s decision to abandon its plans to impose five unitary authorities on Essex isn’t surprising as it wasn’t viable and was driven by their own political agenda.

“The writing was on the wall for a long time but Labour dithered over dropping its plans which means that huge amounts of money were wasted on officers working up new unitary authority arrangements that now aren’t needed.

“This money is desperately needed by local authorities to fund vital services that they are legally responsible for like children’s and adult social care and education.”

🥀In the week where Andy Burnham said national security cannot come at the expense of social security i.e., welfare spending, Burnham is now choosing to put the Labour's Party's electoral security over UK energy security.
👉Burnham is now delaying an announcement on the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea so he can focus on the Holborn and St Pancras by-election where the Green Party threatens Labour.
❄Gas from Jackdaw could have started to help heat British homes by Christmas and provide tax revenue for the Exchequer, but Burnham would rather focus on placating Zack Polanski's Green Party.
🌳Unlike the Labour Party, the Conservatives are the only Party with common sense on energy and a serious plan to get cheap and abundant energy for British households and businesses🇬🇧🏭🏠

Labour’s new Chancellor John Healey has failed to rule out more taxes, offered no cut to Labour's red tape, or plans to get energy bills down.
