Invitation to festival launch event!

Friday 5 June, 6.15pm. Uttlesford District Council Offices, London Road, Saffron Walden CB11 4ER

The Uttlesford Big Green Festival kicks off with an exciting launch event!

We will be celebrating all the community action that has has been happening on nature recovery and low carbon projects across the district.

The session will blend storytelling with reflection, showcasing what has been achieved, including through the Zero Carbon Communities Fund, while looking ahead to the next phase of local climate action.

We've got some fantastic speakers lined up, including a keynote by Simon Lyster, former Head of Conservation Policy at WWF, a strategic panel discussion chaired by Rich Yates of the Essex Wildlife Trust, and reflections by Tom Cameron who is Professor of Applied Ecology at University of Essex.

We would love everyone connected to Sustainable Uttlesford to come along. We would particularly value your input and reflections on your successes and challenges, and how we move forward to scale up local engagement.

Please share the event details to all your groups and networks, and encourage everyone to attend. There will be drinks and nibbles available.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Stay Hydrated This Bank Holiday! 💦

Public Water Fountains - Fully Operational Across Saffron Walden

Did you know Saffron Walden Town Council provides five fully operational free drinking water fountains across Saffron Walden?

Locations include:

• The Walled Garden in Bridge End Garden
• Jubilee Gardens
• Common Playground
• Close Garden by St Mary’s Church
• And the Market Square Fountain

These fountains are operational throughout the spring and summer months and are regularly checked by the Operations Team to provide residents and visitors access to water free of charge - users are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and make full use of the facilities.

This initiative supports SWTC’s commitment to sustainability, reducing single-use plastic waste and helping to reduce the town’s carbon footprint.
By providing accessible drinking water in popular outdoor spaces, the Town Council aims to help residents and visitors stay hydrated while enjoying local amenities, and to encourage the use of reusable bottles.
