🇺🇸🇬🇧 ALET DEPLOYS TO THE UTAH DESERT 🏜️

The EOD team from the Air Land EOD Team (ALET), 22 HQ & Sp Sqn, 33 Engineer Regiment (EOD&S) recently deployed to Utah, USA, for PRAIRIE FIRE 26.

Operating in high-altitude desert terrain, our team participated in this premier EOD Interoperability Training and Knowledge Exchange Visit, hosted by the USAF's 775th EOD Flight. Alongside specialist technicians from 8 partner nations, they integrated into combined international teams to exchange skills, build critical relationships, and tackle complex tactical scenarios.

The high-intensity, two-week training program focused on: 💥 Large-scale demolitions (conducting live-fire range disposals) ⚡ Standoff Munitions Disruption (SMUD) demonstrations utilising directed energy weapons 🛠️ Advanced mitigation techniques and render safe procedures 🔍 Joint training on C-IED, c-SUAS, and UXO scenarios.

A fantastic opportunity to strengthen international alliances, develop cutting-edge EOD capabilities, and ensure we are always ready to combat any joint threat.

Today, 33 Engr Regt (EOD&S) proudly exercised the Freedom of the City, marching through the streets with bayonets fixed, colours flying, and drums beating. A privilege that reflects the enduring bond between our unit and the community we are honoured to serve.

This historic tradition celebrates trust, service, and the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the people we protect. It was a privilege to take part in such a memorable occasion and to share it with the local community.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the parade. Your warm welcome made the day even more special.

Meet our Padre! (Far left)

Padre W. Is pictured here attending the evensong at Chelmsford Cathedral, where they also marked the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant.

In Pic 2 he is pictured with the minister of Thaxted Baptist Church where he spoke at the monthly Men's Breakfast about WW2 Auxiliary units.

The Padre is a welcome sight wherever he turns up, on camp or on exercise. Always bringing a smile and conversation (as well as the famous stickies).

The Padre is not only there for spiritual guidance regardless of faith, but also a welfare champion and allows soldiers a senior confidant outside their normal chain of command.

Armed Forces Week 💂‍♂️🫡

Last week members of 21 & 22 Sqn visited Bailey Lodge Care Home as part of Armed Forces Week.

The event encompassed a presentation, demonstrations and a show and tell with the residents. The residents loved the event and we have promised to be back soon!

Whilst we're feeling the heat in the U.K. this week, 21 Fd Sqn have been feeling it in Kenya!

They've deployed to Kenya for Ex. RANGE SWEEP, working alongside the Kenyan Armed Forces and local civilians on joint partnership and co-operability.

It wasn't all work though with time to play an international volleyball and football tournament (both of which we got smashed by the locals).

Partnership is built through shared experiences.

On the weekend, Redwing RFC took part in the Saffron Walden 7's Tournament. Placing 4th, narrowly losing in the semi-final by a conversion.

Thanks for all the support this weekend as 58 Sqn took on an epic charity event in the heart of Saffron Walden.

EOD Support Troop doing what they do best! 💪

An unexploded WW2 bomb was found at a building site in Coventry.

We built HBMS around the bomb to mitigate the explosion and used MACE (Mobile Abrasive Cutting System) to safely remove the fuse. This was the first live use of MACE in the UK!

Thanks to all the other organisations involved for a safe and successful operation. 👏

Last week 3 members of the 33 Engineer Regiment (EOD&S) travelled to Lourdes, France to take part in the International Military Pilgrimage.

The Festival takes part over 3 days and includes military ceremonies, religious celebrations and a torchlight procession, along with sports and other events. It involves tens of thousands of troops from over 40 countries.

It is a chance for those involved to celebrate and reflect on both their faith and their service.
