Important Update on HUGGG Vouchers

We want to let families know that HUGGG supermarket vouchers will be ending after the May half term holiday.

These vouchers were funded by the government and used to support families during school holidays. This funding has now changed.

👉 What this means:
There will be no vouchers for free school meal families after May half term
Support is not ending, but it will now be based on individual need.

👉 Support still available:
Help through the new Crisis and Resilience Fund.
Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programme.
Support through Cash for Kids Holiday Hunger grants.

👉 If you need help, please:
✅Visit East Sussex cost of living support - www.eastsussex.gov.uk/community/cost-of-living-support
✅ Contact the school.

🌼 Buzzing with excitement for World Bee Day! 🐝

Yesterday our children loved dressing up as brilliant, busy bees to celebrate World Bee Day - and they looked absolutely fantastic.

Their costumes weren’t just for fun. World Bee Day reminds us how important bees are to our planet. These tiny pollinators help grow the fruit, vegetables and flowers we enjoy every day. Without them, many of the foods we rely on simply wouldn’t exist.

Our bee‑themed day helped the children learn about:
🐝Bee conservation - why bees need our help
🐝Pollination - how bees keep plants growing
🐝Protecting nature - small actions that make a big difference

The children showed such enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity - we’re incredibly proud of the thoughtful conversations they had about looking after our environment.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. 👏

💛 Celebrating kindness at Starfish Pre‑school 💛
We loved seeing how our youngest learners at Starfish Pre‑school, based here at Rye Community Primary School, are practising kindness every day through their Kindness Bucket 🪣✨
What a wonderful way to celebrate positive behaviour and support children in feeling valued and proud of their actions.
We’re incredibly proud of our Starfish children and the caring team who support them!

🌟 Good luck to our Year 6 pupils as SATs begin this week!

You’ve worked hard all year, and this is simply your chance to show what you know. Remember - SATs do not define you. They are just one moment in your learning journey, and doing your best is always enough.

✅ Get plenty of rest
✅ Enjoy a good breakfast
✅ Take a deep breath
✅ Believe in yourself

We are incredibly proud of how far you’ve come already. Your teachers, families and the whole school community are right behind you 👏📚✏️

Success is not about being perfect - it’s about giving your best effort.

Wishing all our Year 6 pupils a calm, confident and successful SATs week. 🍀

📚✨ Author Visit at Rye Community Primary School ✨📚

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Penny Boxall, author of Letty and the Mystery of the Golden Thread, to Rye Community Primary School as part of the East Sussex Book Awards, with thanks to East Sussex Library and Information Service

Our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, alongside children from Beckley and Battle & Langton, listened with great enthusiasm as Penny shared insights into her writing process, the inspiration behind her story, and her fascinating experiences with artefacts and historical forgeries.

The children were fully engaged throughout, asking thoughtful questions and showing real curiosity about storytelling, history and mystery. We were incredibly proud of their maturity, interest and impeccable behaviour.

Every child left the session buzzing with excitement - and with a signed autograph from Penny to treasure. We hope the visit inspires a lifelong love of reading and a curiosity to explore even more stories.

Thank you, Penny, for such an inspiring and memorable visit. 📖✨
