Are you 12 and a half and in year 8 or older?Come and join us on Mondays and Thursdays from 1900hrs - 2130hrs. Want real flight experience? No problem.

We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. The ACO is made up of two areas:

-Air Training Corps - The ATC is the RAF's cadet force, divided into six regions, 36 wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities around the UK

- Combined Cadet

Force (RAF) - The CCF (RAF) is our section of the CCF which is made up of cadets from all three services, coming together in approximately 200 independent and state schools across the country

As a cadet you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about. We are not a recruiting organisation for the RAF but if you're thinking about a Service career, cadet membership will put you ahead of the competition. Many cadets go on to great success in the RAF (and the other Services). Around 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew (including pilots, navigators and engineers) in the RAF now are ex-cadets. Research shows that they do better in basic training and stay in the Service longer than their colleagues. Likewise, if you chose a civilian career our research proves you can go on the great things…employers just love the skills and experience that air cadets offer. Let's face it - where else would you be given the opportunity to fly solo in a glider or powered aircraft when you're 17? Whatever you do with your life, at the end of your time as a cadet you'll be self-motivated, confident and ready for anything.

S5 FIELDCRAFT TRAINING DAY 🌳

Today, cadets from across East Wales attended the Sector 5 Fieldcraft Training Day.

The day aims to increase the amount of 'Blue Badge' Holders across the area and deliver refresher training for those wishing to progress in the near future.

Another busy week with more badges gained. Cdt Sgt Harley completed her Master Cadet and Cdt’s Williams and Kelly were awarded their Blue Music badge.

A great day on Saturday as we enjoyed a spot of air rifle shooting in Ruthin.

Five cadets went away having gained new badges; FS Ffion Jones, FS Gethin Kelly, and Sgt Daniel Davies all gained their Advanced Marksman Silver Award.

Cpl Ffion Jones and Cpl Iwan Edwards gained their Marksman Bronze Award.

Many others from Ruthin and Berwyn squadrons also received weapons training and will hopefully be involved in the next shooting event.

Well done to all involved, and thanks to the Squadron and Sector staff who made it happen 👏🏻

Huge congratulations to our first six cadets to complete their Silver Space Course.

This is the first Silver-level badge for several of the cadets, and forms an important step in their training.

Last weekend cadets from 1918 Ruthin Air Cadets completed their Bronze Youth First Aid and Silver Activity First Aid!

Such an amazing experience for everyone involved.

Today 37 cadets and 6 staff from across the Wing had the privilege of attending the Williams F1 team HQ for their STEM experience.

Cadets took part in a composites workshop looking at nose cones and crash structures, an e-sports racing session and a guided tour of the heritage museum.

Essential First Aid

This week saw APO Griffiths deliver Blue First Aid to our new cadets, congratulations to Cdt Grzelak, Cdt Williams and Cdt Deal on achieving the award👏🏻
The rest of the squadron completed a refresher ensuring 100% uptake in this essential life skill.
