Over the last year, we’ve supported more than 350 school leavers on their journey towards a brighter future.

Aspire is South Lanarkshire’s employability support programme for young people who may be at risk of leaving school without a clear pathway into education, training or employment.

🌟 NHS Demonstrator Programme Feedback from a participant

After struggling to find a job through traditional job sites, I discovered the NHS Demonstrator Programme at a South Lanarkshire Council Open Day—and it turned out to be exactly what I needed.

Starting a new career at 46 felt daunting, especially while managing my mental health and balancing family life. There were definitely challenges, but the programme’s flexible hours, supportive structure, and training opportunities made a huge difference.

With ongoing support from the Demonstrator Team, I’ve been able to rebuild my confidence, develop new skills, and take positive steps towards a long-term career within the NHS 💙

Reach Programme Spotlight

Our 6-week Reach Programme, delivered by Routes to Work South in partnership with South Lanarkshire Works, supports young people aged 16–19, who have left school, to build confidence, develop workplace skills, and create a pathway towards employment, training, or further learning.

Through hands-on activities, employer work tasters, and support from trainers, you'll gain the skills, experience, and confidence needed to move forward and achieve your goals.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet staff, learn about a range of job roles within the NHS and South Lanarkshire Council, and explore which path could be the right fit for you.

The Demonstrator Programme offers up to 6 months of paid work placement opportunities designed to help parents gain valuable experience, build confidence, and develop practical workplace skills in a supportive environment.

What We Offer:
✔ Paid work placements
✔ Dedicated Key Worker support
✔ Friendly and supportive working environment
✔ Hands-on experience
✔ Opportunities to build skills and strengthen your CV

Who Can Apply? You must: Live in South Lanarkshire, be a parent and meet at least one of the following criteria:

▪ Lone parent
▪ Parent(s) or child(ren) with disabilities
▪ Parent aged 25 or under
▪ Ethnic minority families
▪ Families with 3 or more children
▪ Families where the youngest child is under 1 year old

To kick off , we’re celebrating the success of our Supported Volunteering Programme! 🙌
Delivered in partnership with Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire , the programme offers flexible, person-centred volunteering opportunities tailored to individual needs.

Working closely with third sector organisations, we have a wide range of placements available across South Lanarkshire that help participants build confidence, develop skills and improve wellbeing 💬✨

We’re proud to share that over 60 participants have already taken part ranging from young people who have just left school to parents who are returning to work, and we’re excited to continue growing this success in the year ahead! 🚀
