The majority of MPS work hard (including quite a few whom we disagree with). A few don't and despite this get a large salary and good pension on top of money earned from jobs when they should have been trending parliament.
Please consider signing this petition to Parliament.

Codify in statute clear and binding obligations for MPs on time spent in their constituency and in Parliament. We think that leaving it to convention unfortunately allows a minority to abuse the system.

The comparison between how young people are treated in the Netherlands and how they are treated in the UK is worth reading. The Netherlands has a Liberal-led Coalition government.

The Netherlands has one of the world's lowest rates of 16 to 24-year-olds not in education, employment or training.

Reform-run Staffordshire County Council has increased expenditure for councillor’s security at its headquarters from £330 for the year before it took office to £35,381 per year, that is a staggering 107.2 times as much. The people who have to pay for this more than hundredfold increase are Staffordshire’s council-tax payers.

The Liberal Democrats are standing firmly behind the family of Maya Chappell in their fight for justice. 🕊️💛

Munira Wilson MP, the Lib Dem spokesperson for Education, Children and Families, has voiced the party's full support for the "Maya’s Law" campaign. The initiative was launched by relatives following the tragic death of the two-year-old from Shotton Colliery, who was killed in 2022.

The Liberal Democrats have urged the Government to work closely with Maya’s family to introduce this vital law and ensure that a tragedy like this can never happen again.

Breaking News in Birmingham Politics! 🏛️
Liberal Democrat Roger Harmer has officially been elected as the new leader of Birmingham City Council, making history as the first-ever Lib Dem leader to hold the position. Following last month’s elections, a new minority administration has been formed, bringing together the Lib Dems, the Greens, and the Better Birmingham Independent Group.

In a surprising turn of events, Reform UK actually finished the elections with the most councillors in the city (a total of 23). However, the party ruled itself out of running the council, stating that no other parties were willing to work with them, leaving them without a viable route to power.
Now, one month later, Councillor Harmer, whose Lib Dem group holds the fewest seats in the city, has stepped up to lead. Speaking immediately after his victory, Harmer announced that his absolute top priority will be settling the city's bin strike, which has been ongoing for more than a year.

🚨 Three in four Britons agree: it’s time to heal our broken food system.

When the King’s Speech completely omitted food security, it ignored a vital opportunity to address a growing national health crisis. But the public already knows that fixing how we produce and consume food is the first step toward healing our communities, our health service, and our economy.

New polling shows overwhelming, cross-party support for the Liberal Democrats' Good Food Bill, commanding a staggering +72 net approval rating across the entire political spectrum.

Tabled by Sarah D**e MP -Lib Dem Rural Affairs Spokesperson, this groundbreaking Bill would have acted as a roadmap for national recovery. By establishing the UK's first-ever statutory framework for our food system, the Bill locks in legally binding targets to heal the childhood obesity epidemic, slash household food insecurity, and boost the domestic production of fresh fruit and veg. However, as the King's speech completely omitted food securit, it makes this process much harder to see the bill become law.

True healing starts with prevention. The proposal of a good food bill is backed by over 100 major UK supermarkets, food businesses, and experts led by The Food Foundation, Green Alliance, and Sustain, this Bill ensures independent oversight to hold future governments to account, guaranteeing that nutritious, accessible food is treated as a fundamental pillar of national health.

It is time to put healthy, sustainable food at the heart of government decision making.

🌊 BATHING SITES BECOME THE LATEST CASUALTY IN THE WATER COMPANIES’ ASSAULT ON NATURE 🌊

Across the country, our local communities are being robbed of their natural spaces. Beautiful bathing sites, meant to be safe havens for families, swimmers, and wildlife. are being left 'poor' and completely unswimmable.

This isn't just an environmental failure; it’s a public health hazard and an absolute betrayal of the public trust. The Liberal Democrats are calling it out for exactly what it is: an unchecked assault on nature.

“This is the latest example of water company impunity being laid bare. Bathing sites are meant to be there for the public to enjoy nature and yet they're another casualty in the water companies' assault on nature.
It is an outrage that the Government has failed time after time to come down hard on these polluters and protect the public's health. They need to get on with the job of replacing Ofwat and make sure the water bosses are punished for this scandal." Tim Farron MP- Environment spokesperson

For too long, water companies have treated our precious blue spaces as open sewers, confident that the penalties would never match the crime. Tim Farron MP summed up the anger felt by millions of people across the UK:

“Pollution, sewage pollution into our lakes, rivers and seas is disgusting... It's not just disgusting, it's completely outrageous.” Tim Farron MP

The Fight for Clean Water in Parliament 🏛️
While the government’s new Water Bill talks a big game, it simply does not go far enough to stop the rot. It tinkers around the edges while our rivers and coastlines suffer.

That’s why the Liberal Democrats are actively fighting in Parliament to completely overhaul the water industry. The Lib Dems are tabling tough amendments to the bill, forcing a vote on real, structural change:

❌ An end to fat-cat executive bonuses: No more rewarding failure and environmental destruction with massive payouts.
📊 Total transparency on sewage spills: Forcing water companies to publish the actual, raw volume of sewage spilled into our ecosystems, ending the cover-ups.
⚖️ A powerhouse regulator with real teeth: Fully replacing the toothless Ofwat with a new regulator equipped to genuinely penalize polluters and ban bonuses.
🏡 Public benefit corporations: Overhauling the business model to transform water companies into public benefit entities, legally putting the environment and local communities ahead of corporate profit.

The Liberal Democrat policy is simple and unyielding: If you pollute our environment, you should pay the price. Taxpayers shouldn't have to clean up the mess, and our precious local wildlife certainly shouldn't pay with their habitats. 🦆🦢
Stand With Us 🗳️

Our rivers, lakes, and seas belong to the community, not to the balance sheets of water companies. The Lib Dems won't stop fighting in Parliament and on the ground until our waters are sparkling, healthy, and safe once again.

Do you agree that it’s time for water companies to clean up their act?
