Emergency Departments are for life threatening emergencies, but there are other NHS services that can help if your condition is urgent but not an emergency.

Before going to A&E, think NHS 111, your GP, local pharmacy, Urgent Treatment Centre or Minor Injury Unit. Choosing the right service helps people get the care they need while keeping emergency services available for those who need them most.

We have declared a Critical Incident due to severe and sustained pressure on our services, with our Emergency Department experiencing exceptionally high levels of demand.

Our teams are working extremely hard to care for patients, but the continued level of demand is resulting in significant delays and waits for some people.

Declaring a Critical Incident is not a decision we have taken lightly, but it enables us manage the pressure on our services and protect patient safety.

If your child is aged 2 or 3, help protect them from flu this winter. Young children can become seriously unwell with flu, and vaccination is one of the best ways to protect them and those around them.

From 1 October, children aged 2 and 3 can get their flu vaccination at participating community pharmacies.

If you're pregnant, getting your flu vaccination is an important way to protect both you and your baby this winter. Pregnancy can increase the risk of becoming seriously unwell from flu. Vaccination also helps give your baby protection during their first few months of life.

Flu vaccinations for pregnant women are available from 1 September. Speak to your midwife, GP practice or maternity team about getting yours, or visit your local community pharmacy.

Festivals are about music, friends and making memories, but it's important to know the risks. Ketamine can affect your awareness, coordination and judgement, alter your perception of time and space, and reduce your ability to feel pain. This can increase the risk of accidents, injuries and vulnerability in busy festival environments.

Mixing ketamine with alcohol or other drugs can be particularly dangerous and can increase the risk of serious harm.

Staying hydrated is important, especially in warm weather or if you’re drinking alcohol.

When attending events, take a reusable water bottle and drink regularly throughout the day. Signs you may be dehydrated include feeling thirsty, tired, dizzy, having a dry mouth, or peeing less often than usual.

The Apollo HIU Service is helping people with complex health and wellbeing needs access more joined up, personalised support. Incident update 13/8/26 9pm

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is still in attendance at the incident at Salford Priors but this is no longer declared a mayor incident.
The A46 is now open to traffic in both directions between Salford Bridge and Arrow Services.
Please continue to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area where possible.
