Shared Lives Rotherham

Shared Lives Rotherham Shared Lives Carers open up their homes, families and community life to provide support to adults requiring care and support.

At Shared Lives Rotherham we aim to create strong connections, a sense of belonging, and a caring community where we open our hearts and share our homes. We have built an incredible community where we encourage everyone to live their best life regardless of the support they need. We believe our lives are better when they are shared.

A Fantastic Day Out!☀️

Shared Lives Carers, Diane and Amanda, along with Harvey and Darren, recently enjoyed a wonderful day out with friends from Rotherham Fostering.

Choosing the theme of "What Makes You Happy" and embracing the great outdoors, the group spent the day at Langold Lake, where they enjoyed a huge picnic, played games, shared lots of laughter, and made some fantastic memories together🥪

It was a lovely opportunity to spend time with friends, enjoy nature, and celebrate the things that bring us happiness😊

Thanks for sharing these photos with us💙

Shared Storytime📖

At the end of every month, we will be sharing a story sent in by one of you!💙

This month we hear from Wendy.

Wendy supports 3 friends together on a Monday and then 2 friends together on a Tuesday.

“It’s hardly a job; it’s a way of life. I feel as though I’m meeting up with my friends, I call them ‘my gang’. I include them in my life (including my parents and my dogs) and we enjoy visiting places together.” Wendy

If you would like to be included in next months Shared Storytime, send in your story to us via email at [email protected]📧

Yesterday, we had a great catch-up in Riverside with our Shared Lives Ambassadors to discuss our upcoming Reflections Event, part of the Accelerated Reform Project in partnership with Shared Lives Plus and the three other South Yorkshire Shared Lives schemes😊

We also talked about the council's Adult Social Care Strategy, which our ambassadors are keen to be involved in and help shape💬

It was lovely to see everyone and hear their valuable insights. We're looking forward to making these meetings a regular occurrence, meeting quarterly to continue working together and sharing ideas💙

On Wednesday, the Shared Lives team came together for our team meeting and took some time to focus on wellbeing💙

As it's National Wellness Month, we wanted to share some simple wellbeing tips that can help support our physical and mental health:

Stay connected with family and friends✨
Take time to get outside and be active🚶
Keep hydrated throughout the day🥤
Make time to relax and recharge🧘
Do something that brings you joy😀
Talk to someone if you're feeling overwhelmed💬

Looking after our wellbeing is important every day, and even small changes can make a big difference.
