Overview:
Rainbows Corner Ltd is experiencing an exciting opportunity of growth for our Children’s Residential service and we are pleased to now be in the process of opening a new, three bed home for Children with Disabilities and are seeking a special kind of someone who is ambitious and intuitive Registered Manager to support us through registration and the run the home once fully operational.

As Registered Manager, you will lead all aspects of the day-to-day running of our Children’s Home. Promoting a caring environment which provides young people with the highest standard of specialised, individual personal care, meeting individual needs and ensuring everyone is treated with respect and dignity, independence, and choice.

You will be the face of our home and lead the service in providing outstanding quality of care to children through vigorous oversight, management and promoting a therapeutic care model and ethos of continuous development. Responsibilities

The Care of Children

Enrich the lives of young people in our care, helping them create a positive future.
Ensure the effective implementation of the Children Act 1989 and the accompanying guidance and Regulations (Vol.4 Residential Care), the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children’s Homes Regulations including Quality Standards (2015). This will be achieved in consultation with the relevant statutory body.
Ensure that any matters relating to child protection are managed in line with current legislation, national standards and best safeguarding practice.
Maintain the highest possible standards of childcare and ensure that each child and young person’s agreed placement plan is fully implemented.
Co-ordinate and access the appropriate services (health, education, therapy) to ensure the needs of each child and young person is met.
Leadership

Provide leadership and coaching in childcare practice within the home to ensure best outcomes for children and young people.
Mentor and support the Deputy Manager and/or Senior Residential Support Workers in provision of best possible childcare practices.
Stewardship of Rainbows Corner Ltd underpinning philosophy and practice framework, ensuring that care standards are never compromised.
Ensure that all of Rainbows childcare policies and procedures are implemented appropriately.
Home Management

To achieve the best outcomes for all children and young people, ensuring that the home is managed effectively and efficiently in a warm and caring manner.
Ensure the Seniors and Residential Support Workers are focussed on providing the best childcare for the children and young people.
Ensure full participation and co-operation with Rainbows comprehensive and integrated quality assurance systems, including taking responsibility for all duties associated with regulatory compliance. This includes the annual inspection process.
Make sure that best practice is maintained by conducting regular quality assurance inspections.
Sustain and develop the administration systems, recording systems, and repair work, so that a warm and caring home environment is maintained.
Manage the home within the agreed budget, taking full responsibility for all incidental costs as well as direct costs.
Effectively manage the homes devolved budget and ensure full financial compliance with yearend reporting.
Team Management

Supervise and support the staff group ensuring that the team are developed appropriately to meet the specific needs of children and young people in the home.
With the support of Senior Support Workers, ensure that staff supervision continues to support both childcare delivery and staff development.
With Support from the Practice Development Lead, develop individual staff training programmes in line with company plans and needs and supervise/provide observations for staff through their Children’s Workforce Diploma (or equivalent).
Complete probationary and annual performance appraisals for all staff to ensure that they are able to continue to provide appropriate levels of childcare.
Rota Management
Health and Safety

To implement the Health & Safety policies and ensure that all staff are aware of all Health & Safety procedures.
To undertake risk assessments as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant QCF Level 5 in care of children and young people or equivalent or willingness to work towards
Relevant QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Residential Care
A minimum of 2 years supervisory Experience in a Children's Residential Home
At least 12 months in a Management Position within a Children's Residential Home (Deputy will be considered)
Experience of working with children and/or adults with disabilities at a senior level
Knowledge, skills and abilities

Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations ( 2015) and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework.
Can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operational management.

Rated Outstanding by Ofsted in December 2023 and Good in 2024, Rainbows Corner is a Children's Home in Brampton, Rotherham that provide care, support and nurture to Children with physical or intellectual disabilities including learning disabilities, Autism, and can display some associated behaviours. Many of our children face challenges with their communication which is supported by a dedicated staff team and the use of PECs and Makaton.

Job Summary:

The role of the Deputy Manager is to support and work alongside the Registered Manager of the Residential Children’s Home in efficiently and effectively co-managing the house budget, overseeing the development of staff and the young people in placement, formulating, and updating placement plans, risk assessments and positive handling plans.

You will support the Registered Manager in the delivery of high-quality service provision incorporating care, welfare, safety and security of all children and young people in his / her care and promoting the Company’s ethos as a Therapeutic and Activity based organization.

This role is to support the staff team in managing the day-to-day tasks of the home, working on shift as the lead person for role modelling and developing good practice and liaising with multi-agency partners.

We have a strong commitment to staff development and there will be considerable opportunities for internal and external training and for sharing good practice within the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure that you and the staff team implement and adhere to our Safeguarding Policy, and Local Authority Safeguarding procedures

Work cohesively and in partnership with team members and other professionals

Ensure Local Authority Social Workers are notified of all significant events, incidents, important changes and physical interventions within 24 hours

Ensure that young people receive a sensitive residential service which best meets their individual social, racial, psychological, educational, cultural, physical identity, and health care needs

Complete appropriate training within the required timeframes

Essential:

Holds an existing qualification equivalent to either the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare; and/ or the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare

A minimum of two years’ experience of working in a children’s home

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, an employment background check, satisfactory references, and verification of right to work in the UK.

Hours and rate of pay:

We are a 24/7, 365 days per year service; this is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, primarily days with an expectation that some working hours may be in the evening/night.

Rate of pay is heavily dependent on proven experience, starting at £29,000 with the potential to achieve £36,000.

We are looking for candidates who have proven skills and experience in a children’s residential care setting or equivalent setting and are passionate about improving the lives and outcomes for children and young people.
