More from the Love Where You Live team!

A huge shout-out to our fantastic environmental Team, Nigel and Andy, who have been hard at work despite the challenging weather conditions.

Today they:

🌿 Cleared the footpath on Furlong Road
🌿 Cut down a small tree and strimmed back weeds and moss from the pathway
🌿 Carried out litter picking and a general tidy-up of the area
🌿 Removed a small tree growing on the pavement on Station Road, BOD, followed by a quick litter pick
🌿 Supported the caretaker team in The Dearne by helping to remove waste from pathways after overgrown bushes had been cut back

A productive day all round, making a real difference to our local communities despite the weather!

👏 Thank you, Nigel and Andy, for your continued hard work and dedication and managing to dance in the rain and still be smiling wet through, nothing stops these two!

Today, as part of the Barnsley Live Where You Live initiative, Nigel & Andy our environmental team were out in the community doing what they do best between the rain downpours making improvement work on Barnsley Road in Goldthorpe, Dearne North.

our team cut back overgrown hedges that were encroaching onto the pavement and carried out a litter pick along the route. In total, filling two bags of waste, helping to make the area cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for residents and visitors.

A big thank you to everyone involved in keeping our communities looking their best. Every small improvement makes a difference!

🌿 Tai Chi Teacher Wanted – Thurnscoe, Goldthorpe & Bolton on Dearne.

We are looking for an experienced Tai Chi teacher who would be interested in coming to Thurnscoe and other parts of the Dearne to deliver regular Tai Chi sessions for our community firstly at Houghton Road Community Centre then any other venues we have available.

We are particularly interested in finding someone who can not only lead the sessions but also train and support local volunteers to eventually help facilitate and sustain the classes within the community.

If you are a qualified Tai Chi instructor, or can recommend someone who may be interested, we’d love to hear from you.

Please email in the first instance [email protected] or speak to Vikki the community connector for the Dearne Area who runs the physical activity programme in the Dearne to discuss this opportunity further.

Thank you, and please share with anyone who may be interested!

A huge thank you to the wonderful ESV (employee Support Volunteering) staff at GXO for their support and hard work today at Thurnscoe Park. 👏🌿

This fantastic green-fingered team has transformed a small area of the park, making the entrance much more welcoming and appealing for everyone who visits. Their efforts have made a real difference and are greatly appreciated by the local community especially in between the downpours!

Since the Flower Park group of volunteers group hung up their gloves due to ill health and retirement parts of the park have become overgrown and a little wild and overgrown, as you all know we rely heavily on volunteers to keep our parks and green spaces maintained and While we do our best to tackle some of the outer areas, maintaining the main park, shrubs and larger bushes is a much bigger challenge on our monthly GXO support - so we need some help on this now more than ever?

We would love to see more local people get involved and help us keep Thurnscoe Park green, clean, bright and beautiful for visitors from near and far. Together, we can ensure this valuable community space continues to look its very best for everyone to enjoy. 🌳💚

If you’d like to lend a hand or find out more about volunteering opportunities, please email: [email protected]

Thank you again to the amazing GXO ESV team for your hard work, enthusiasm and community spirit today – you’ve made a lasting impact! 👌
