Update on the trails...

PUBLIC NOTICE- KILBRONEY TRAILS AND FOREST DRIVE RE-OPENED
The current phase of tree-felling works at Kilbroney Forest Park is now complete. The forest drive, as well as all mountain bike and walking trails are fully re-opened.

Update on trail closures from Council

PUBLIC NOTICE- KILBRONEY MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS TEMPORARILY RE-OPENED

🟢 The Mountain bike trails at Kilbroney Forest Park have now re-opened following completion of the February phase of helicopter lifts (some localised diversions remain in place).

🟢 Please note that mid-week closures are due to be re-introduced for 1 week when the helicopter returns in early March (currently scheduled for Monday 6 - Friday 10 March).

PUBLIC NOTICE-TRAIL CLOSURES KILBRONEY FOREST PARK

Trail closures at Kilbroney Forest Park will commence on Tuesday 3 January – April 2023 due to the felling of disease affected trees.

Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Forest Service will undertake phased felling of trees affected with a plant disease called Phytopthora ramorum.

The works will impact on access to a number of Kilbroney Park's walking and mountain bike trails (Monday-Friday).

Notice of Works -
Trail Closures Rostrevor Forest

As part of the ongoing construction works of Phase 2 of the New Fallows Trail within Rostrevor Forest it is necessary to utilise helicopter aerial lifting to transport materials to parts of the new route.

These works are scheduled to commence on Monday 7th February 2022 for approximately 10 days (weather dependent) between the hours of 8am & 5.30pm including Saturday and Sunday.

The exclusion zone highlighted red on the attached map is the helicopter operating area and for health & safety reasons this exclusion zone will be strictly out of bounds for public access during this period.

Some forest access roads will not be accessible through this exclusion zone. Signage and diversions will be in place advising walkers & bikers of closures.

Both the Red & Black Mountain Bike Trails will be closed throughout this time.

Both Downhill trails - On the pulse & Mega mission will remain open.

We would ask for the public’s co-operation during this time.

NB- this work will also fall under normal CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) guidelines.

Kilbroney Park and Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails closed today and tomorrow.

FOREST PARKS CLOSED DUE TO YELLOW STORM WARNING

Please be aware that the Met Office has issued a Yellow Storm Warning between 9am on Friday 26 November 2021 and 6pm on Saturday 27 November 2021. Storm Arwen will bring high winds with gusts reaching 55 to 65 mph. Gusts will be highest in coastal areas.

Delamont Country Park, Kilbroney Forest Park and Slieve Gullion Forest Park, including all associated car parks, play parks, forest drives, walking trails and mountain biking trails will be closed on Friday and Saturday. The walking and mountain biking trails at Castlewellan Forest Park will also be closed. It is anticipated that the Forest Parks will re-open following safety inspections on Sunday morning, however inspections of the mountain biking trails may take longer. Please adhere to on-site safety information.

If it is essential that you leave your home during these times we advise that you exercise caution and minimise risk, particularly along coastal areas. Please remain aware of updated Met Office advice.

Folks, we're really pleased to say that we're kicking off our Rostrevor Mountain Bike Uplift service this weekend 👍

However, due to continuing Social Distancing legislation, we can only take 'Bubble' bookings for now, i.e. families, friends, clubs 🤔

We know this isn't ideal but having chatted with many of you, we know that you're happy to compromise to get the service back up and running 👏
