Sometimes it’s a cold cup of tea, another load of washing, or a simple “thank you” that means more than you expected.

It’s often those little everyday moments that remind you just how much of a difference you’re making.

It’s been back to school this week for lots of children and young people, and that can bring all sorts of feelings with it.

Excitement, nerves, seeing friends again, new teachers, new routines… sometimes all at once.

For children in foster care, those changes can feel even bigger, which is why having someone there who understands, listens and gives them that bit of reassurance can make such a difference.

We hope everyone heading back this week has had a good start to the new school year 💚

On Tuesday, some of our young people had a great day out canoeing with Foster Friends 🛶

Foster Friends gives our young people the chance to spend time together, make friends and, most importantly, have their say in the way we do things here at Mulberry.

It sounds like there was plenty of laughter and plenty of splashing too… although we're still not quite sure who got splashed the most, the young people or the adults!

A really lovely day and a nice way to make the most of the summer. 💚

We had such a lovely afternoon at our Summer Event earlier this month.

These days are always a really nice chance for everyone to get together, have a bit of fun and just enjoy some time as the Mulberry family.

There was plenty going on with the inflatables, games, bubbles, and, of course, lots of treats too!

We hold a Summer and Christmas event every year for our foster families, and for us it’s really about saying thank you for everything they do and giving everyone the chance to spend some time together away from the day-to-day.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a lovely afternoon. 💚

You might recognise a few of these faces already, but we thought it would be nice to get everyone together and show you the people behind the support at Mulberry.

We’re a small, local team and that family feel is a big part of who we are.

Our carers get to know us, we get to know them, and over time you build real relationships with the people supporting you.

Everyone plays their part too. From our social work team and office team, right through to Honey, our very important team morale booster 😂

For us, fostering has always been about people. Being there, listening and making sure our carers feel properly supported when they need us.

A big good luck to everyone getting their GCSE results today.

It can feel like a massive day when you’re in it, but whatever is written on that piece of paper, it doesn’t decide everything that comes next.

There are so many different ways forward, and quite often the path you end up taking isn’t the one you expected anyway.

So try not to put too much pressure on yourself today. Be proud of the work you’ve put in and remember that one set of results is only one part of your story.

And a big mention to our foster carers too. We know how much encouragement, patience and support goes on behind the scenes to help young people get to days like this.

That support really does matter.

Well done to everyone getting their results today. We hope it’s a good one for you. 💚

One of the things we really value about being a smaller fostering agency is that we get to know our carers properly.

We know the families behind the names, we’re there to celebrate the good days and, just as importantly, we’re there when things feel a little more difficult.

Fostering can be incredibly rewarding, but nobody should ever feel like they’re doing it alone.

That’s why support at Mulberry is personal, practical and there when you need it.

Hey everyone, we just wanted to say a massive congratulations and the very best of luck to everyone receiving their A-Level results today! 💚

Whatever is written on that piece of paper, you should be proud of how far you’ve come and everything you’ve put into getting here.

Results day can bring all sorts of emotions, but one result doesn’t define you or decide what comes next.

And to all the parents, carers, teachers and everyone else standing in someone’s corner today, sometimes just being there and saying “I’m proud of you” means more than you realise.

We get asked all sorts of questions about fostering, and genuinely, there’s no such thing as a silly one.

It might be about your age, work, money, having pets, your own children, or whether your home would be suitable. Whatever you’re wondering, just ask us.

You don’t need to know everything before getting in touch and there’s absolutely no pressure to take things any further.

Sometimes a quick chat is all you need to understand a bit more about fostering and whether it could work for you and your family.

And that’s absolutely fine.

You don’t need to decide today, and there’s no pressure to take things any further than you’re comfortable with.
