Area Committees have been relaunched! The first meeting of the new Councillors & Residents Forums takes place next week.

The forums give you a chance to talk to councillors about what is concerning you in your community.

At this round of meetings there will be opportunities for you to chat to your ward councillor between 6.30pm and 7pm before the meeting starts, and also at the end of the meeting, with refreshments available.

In addition to the regular updates on issues such as the Local Government Reorganisation and the Community Governance Review, at the Sheppey Councillors & Residents Forum a Kent County Council representative will be attending to talk about education provision on the Isle of Sheppey.

Everyone is welcome to attend and take part. The first meeting is for the Sheppey Area and will take place at:

πŸ“’ Consultation closes tomorrow – have you had your say?

This is your final opportunity to take part in the Community Governance Review consultation.

The proposals include:
βœ… Expanding Bobbing Parish Council to cover all of The Meads and more of Grove Park.
βœ… The potential creation of a Sittingbourne Town Council.

Why does this matter?

Swale Borough Council is expected to be abolished when Local Government Reorganisation creates a new unitary authority, which could happen as early as 2027. Decisions affecting Sittingbourne and the surrounding area would then be made as part of a much larger authority covering a wider area of Kent.

A town council could provide a stronger local voice and help ensure local issues continue to be represented at a community level.

Whatever your view, make sure it is heard before the consultation closes tomorrow.

πŸ—³οΈ Have your say now – don’t miss your chance to influence the future of local representation in your area.

VOLUNTEERS' WEEK 1st-7th June

**COUNTING THE HOURS**

There's still time for you to give us your volunteer hours for our annual Counting the Hours campaign to celebrate the incredible contribution that volunteers make across Swale.

We’re gathering information from local organisations to estimate the total number of volunteer hours given to support communities over the past year. This helps us to highlight the true value of volunteering locally and share the impact with partners, funders and the wider community.

We’d be really grateful if you could provide:

β€’ The number of volunteers you have
β€’ An estimate of the total number of hours they’ve contributed over the past year (or a typical week/month if that’s easier)

If you already collect this data, even a rough figure is absolutely fine.

Please could you send this over to us as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]

If you have any questions or would prefer to talk it through, feel free to get in touch.

Thank you for everything you and your volunteers do to support our communities, it really does make a difference.
