As we return to our regular evenings back at 1263 Rochdale, we'd like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and cadets at 2301 Heywood Squadron for welcoming us so warmly over the past few months whilst our own Squadron has been closed.

Being able to share your space has meant a great deal to us, and we're incredibly grateful for the support. It has been such a positive experience working together & building friendships for all.

Our cadets have thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with you, and it's been fantastic to see everyone come together so seemlessly.

Thanks again , we won't forget the wonderful experiences we have shared

Two medals and a whole lot of team spirit for 1263 (Rochdale) Squadron at athletics yesterday! Huge congratulations to Sgt Ikuyajesin on securing a coveted slot at North – an outstanding achievement and well deserved, and also CDT Kershaw for his speedy runs and springboardy efforts at High Jump.

And as for the Macarena… a song still going strong that never really goes out of fashion. Watching the young ones throw some "prezel shapes" was brilliant – it’s not every day you see a whole bunch doing a mass Macarena after a day of athletics!

Massive shoutout as well to the staff team, making sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you for turning up and keeping the day on track for the cadets.

We absolutely loved watching them all give it their best on the track and then dance their hearts out – proud staff, proud Squadron, and a brilliant day out for Team 1263!

1263 Squadron have been busy racking up even more badges – and no, we’re not running out of space on brassards just yet… 🚀🎶🩹💬

Huge well done to all the cadets who have recently achieved:

Silver Space – Blue Lyre (Music) – Blue Leadership and First Aid.

You’ve all worked hard, stepped out of your comfort zones, and shown exactly what being an air cadet is about – skills, confidence and having fun while you earn those badges.

Drop a 👍 in the comments to congratulate them, and if you’re a cadet thinking “I fancy one of those badges”… watch out for the next courses 👀

Shout-out to our awesome NCO team for grabbing these photos and videos from today’s Open Day, hosted by 2301 Heywood Squadron – the staff were far too busy being ambushed by a stream of parents to take any pictures ourselves!

Also featuring: our accidental special guest star… the B&M truck in the background. Who knew our banner party came with built-in sponsorship and product placement?

Jokes aside, it was brilliant to see so many cadets from both 1263 and 2301 getting stuck in, learning new skills, and showing everyone what RAF Air Cadets is all about.

Looks like 1263 (Rochdale) Squadron is building such a strong NCO team that the staff can practically put their feet up now… almost! 😄⛱️

A huge well done to our newly promoted Sgt Taylor‑Carrington and Cpl Shea – your hard work, leadership and commitment to the squadron have really shone through and these promotions are very well deserved.

We also had the pleasure of presenting another certificate to Cdt Bramwell, recognising their effort and progress on the squadron. Keep it up – you’re setting a great example to others coming through.

1263 is going from strength to strength and we’re incredibly proud of all our cadets and staff who make it happen every parade night. 💙✈️

Yesterday our cadets swapped classrooms for clear skies as 1263 Rochdale Squadron went flying at RAF Leeming – and yes, we could actually see the ground!

North Yorkshire even treated us to something rare… blue sky, proper visibility and only the occasional cloud trying to photobomb the views. Clearly the weather officer must have booked the sunshine weeks in advance!

Massive well done to all the cadets who took to the air – some first flights, some adding more time to the logbook, all coming back with huge grins and plenty of “you should have seen the view from my side” stories.

And in breaking news: Sgt Iqbal successfully completed the whole sortie without redecorating the aircraft… despite this usually being his specialist subject! Joking of course – turns out he’s much better at flying than throwing up. 👏✈️

Thank you to the staff and crews at RAF Leeming for an unforgettable day and to our own staff team for making it happen.

🎉 Huge congratulations to SGT M Zain on completing her Method of Instruction (MOI)! 🎉

The MOI course is no walk in the park - it takes real drive, dedication, and a solid commitment to teaching the next generation. SGT M Zain has shown outstanding leadership, communication skills, and the patience and enthusiasm needed to inspire cadets. A star instructor in the making - SGT M Zain's dedication and hard work have really paid off, and we have no doubt she has a bright and strong future ahead at the squadron! 🌟

It's not just SGT Zain celebrating either - we've had even more classification qualifications achieved! The squadron is running on all cylinders, full steam ahead! 🚂💨

As we head into the festive season, we're already excited about what 2026 will bring. With this momentum and our fantastic cadets and staff, the sky's the limit! ✈️

Well done to everyone - here's to finishing 2025 strong!
