It's Diabetes Week and we're joining other organisations in shining a light on the stigma around diabetes and the support available. It's important to remember that nobody chooses diabetes.

Across the week Living Well Rochdale will also be hosting free health checks throughout the borough.

You can pop in for your free health check today at Unity House – Apna Ghar, Belfield Road OL16 2UP.

No bookings needed, just come down.

As part of Diabetes Week, Living Well Rochdale will be offering FREE Community Health Checks at:

📍 Unity House – Apna Ghar
Belfield Road, Rochdale, OL16 2UP

📅 Monday 8th June 2026
🕙 10:00am – 2:30pm

Our health checks include:
✔ Blood Pressure
✔ Blood Sugar & Cholesterol
✔ Body Weight & BMI
✔ Immunisations & Oral Health Advice

⏱ Each check takes approximately 20–25 minutes, including your results.

We will also have information, advice and support available for:
🚭 Stop Smoking
📚 Health & Skills
🍷 Alcohol Support
🍎 Weight & Diet
🤝 Loneliness & Isolation

💙 Supporting Diabetes Week 2026
Know your numbers and take control of your health.

Eligibility:
• Aged 25+
• Not under GP care for ongoing treatment
• Not currently taking medication for cholesterol or diabetes
• No haemophilia or pregnancy

💧 Please drink plenty of water before attending.

This Volunteer Week we want to give a special shout-out to the volunteers and staff at Living Well Rochdale. ❤️

Living Well have been supporting the borough and the council in providing free health checks for residents as part of our effort to reduce heart disease and long-term illness in the borough.

The checks not only alleviate pressure at GP practices but they also make healthcare more accessible with free drop-ins organised regularly across the borough.

But their work doesn't stop there. Living Well volunteers also work to help residents stop smoking, provide coaching, oral health support, and also local walking groups.

It's fair to say their work isn't just improving lives, it's also bringing people in the borough together. 👏

Welcome to the Smallbridge Library Neighbourhub Group which takes place every Thursday from 9.30am -12.

Please come and join us for a chat and a brew. Our volunteers can also support you with form filling, help with getting support from other services and free blood pressure checks.

The group will be meeting every week and we welcome people to come regularly to meet with others in a warm and safe place.
