Coming home from Thailand has hit me harder than I expected.

I’ve spent years being the person who keeps going. The person who gets up, gets on with it, looks after everyone else and deals with whatever life puts in front of me.

My time in the Army taught me resilience. Life taught me some lessons the Army never could. I’ve been through things that have changed me, challenged me and left scars that aren’t always visible.

For a long time, I think I’ve been so focused on helping other people that I’ve forgotten that I need looking after too.

Thailand gave me something I didn’t realise I needed.

Time.

Time to breathe. Time to laugh. Time to switch off. Time to look around and realise that life is actually happening right now, not just when the next problem is solved or the next goal is achieved.

I’ve come home with a completely different perspective.

I’m incredibly grateful for my family, my friends, the people I’ve met throughout my journey and every single person who has believed in me and supported what we’re building through GTAS.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I know I’m not the same person who started this journey.

I’ve fallen. I’ve struggled. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve picked myself back up and carried on.

And maybe that’s what life is really about.

Not pretending everything is perfect.

Just continuing to move forward, appreciating the people beside you and remembering to actually live along the way.

Thailand wasn’t just a holiday for me.

It was a reminder.

A reminder that I’ve got one life.

And I’m going to make sure I live it. ❤️🇹🇭
