A often misunderstood condition that can affect people of any age, but especially older adults.

Delirium can start suddenly and may cause confusion, changes in behaviour, difficulty concentrating or reduced awareness of surroundings.

Early recognition can make a real difference to recovery.

We have now introduced body-worn cameras across all four of our hospitals in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Salford to help protect our colleagues, patients and visitors.

These cameras are a key part of our commitment to building a culture where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

Unwanted and abusive behaviours have no place in our Trust. We expect everyone to be considerate and respectful of each other’s different lived experiences.

The cameras will be worn by designated clinical staff and activated only if a colleague feels threatened and only after informing the individual involved. They provide a clear and objective record to support investigations and, where necessary, legal action.

Most importantly, this is about creating a safer, calmer and more respectful environment for everyone who comes through our doors.

Fantastic news! 🎉 Rochdale Infirmary’s medical services were recently rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission in all five domains: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well‑led.
Inspectors praised the team’s strong safety culture and the compassion shown to patients every single day.
Huge congratulations to our brilliant Rochdale colleagues — a well‑deserved achievement! 👏💙

During the winter months, cases of flu like illness, diarrhoea and vomiting are more common.

To help reduce the spread of viruses in our hospitals, we ask all patients and visitors to follow our Visitors Charter.

This includes wearing a face mask and using the hand gel stations available at all entrances.

We would love to share our appreciation for a fantastic group of ladies in Rochdale who have very kindly created and donated these wonderful Twiddle Mitts for our patients 💙

Twiddle Mitts are designed to comfort, calm, and stimulate patients, particularly those living with dementia.

The group is called Young at Heart and is run by Barbara Brennan. Thank you for gifting and thinking about our patients at Rochdale Infirmary.

We are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity. Your support truly makes a difference to our patients.

Resident doctors will be taking strike action from from 7am on Wednesday 17 December (today) until 7am on Monday 22 December.

Urgent and emergency care remains open. People with life-threatening conditions should come forward as normal.

Industrial action by resident doctors takes place from 7am on Wednesday 17 December until 7am on Monday 22 December.

Please attend your scheduled appointment unless you are contacted and told otherwise.

The public can support the NHS by checking in on vulnerable family or neighbours, ensuring they have essential medication, and helping loved ones return home promptly if ready for hospital discharge.

We held a Winter Reaching Out Event at Infirmary that welcomed more than 140 residents in need! 🎉

Our guests received health checks, hot meals, and festive cheer! 🎅

From flu vaccinations and podiatry to haircuts and advice from local support teams, the day was filled with lots of laughs and smiles! 😊

Generous donations included over 400 quilts from Comfy Quilts and household goods from Deeplish Community Centre!

Thank you so much to our wonderful colleagues and community partners for making this event a huge success and ensuring the most vulnerable are supported! 💙

Our Emergency Departments are currently very busy. There are a lot of poorly patients and our colleagues are doing their very best to see and treat everyone as quickly as they can, so please be patient and kind.
