Today is World Su***de Prevention Day and the start of The Month of Hope in Greater Manchester.

Every year communities, services, and local authorities come together to open a conversation in the region about how we all have a role in preventing su***de and how we can support each other when it comes to mental health.

By talking about the issue and learning how to support each other we can give each other hope.

With the recent wet weather, please don’t leave cardboard packaging out in the rain, as wet cardboard cannot be recycled.

Where possible, put flattened empty cardboard packaging in your blue bin and remove all contents, including polystyrene inserts.

Thank you for helping us recycle correctly.♻️

Here's our Nigel with a quick reminder..

We’re expanding our ‘trainer flat’ scheme to provide more of our cared for young people with a taste of what it is like to live independently.

While living alone for the first time can be a daunting experience, it can be an even greater challenge for those who have grown up in care as some may only have a limited support network that they can rely on.

This can make adjusting to new responsibilities such as paying utility bills, managing a tenancy agreement and budgeting harder.

However, through the help of our trainer flat scheme, of which there are now 14 across the borough, cared for young people aged 17 and over are being offered the perfect stepping stone to safely prepare for life on their own.

Read more about what this means for our cared for young people in the comments below.
