21 Engineer Regiment

This is the official page for 21 Engineer Regiment, a regiment of the British Army. We also support 2 Army Reserve Squadrons (103 and 106).

21 Engineer Regiment is a Close Support Engineer Regiment consisting of 3 squadrons and a Light Aid Detachment. Based in Ripon, North Yorkshire the Regiment supports 1 Armoured Infantry Bde during training and on operations. The Regiment's squadrons are 7 HQ & Support Squadron,1 Field Squadron, 4 Field Squadron and 29 Field Squadron. The Regiment is currently preparing to deploy, and already deployed, on various operations throughout 2022.

Ex WINTER CAMP: Jan 2025

1st Field Squadron deployed on Ex WINTER CAMP as part of the Royal Dragoon Guards Battlegroup; this serves as the culminating exercise of the deployment.

During the exercise their Field Troops established several Abatis obstacles which were then cleared by their Terrier Armoured Engineering Vehicles.

A great opportunity for the Divisional Engineer Regiment to train hard and deliver military engineering excellence.

21 Engineer Regiment hosted an unforgettable Regimental Boxing Night, demonstrating and showcasing the underpinning warrior spirt we expect from our Soldiers. They fought with passion, flair, and self-discipline, showing humility in winning and graciousness in defeat.

Best Boxer - LCpl Sheldon, 2nd Bn Royal Anglian,

As a special mention, Spr Kay, 32 Engr Regt, displayed great sportsmanship within his bout.

A huge recognition of appreciation must go to all the boxers, coaches and support staff from 21 Engineer Regiment, 2 Battalion Royal Anglian, 28 Engineer Regiment, 32 Engineer Regiment and 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment. Your support and dedication made the evening a huge success.

Ex PIPERS CHARGE

29 Field Squadron recently deployed on Ex PIPERS CHARGE, the Squadron's annual validation exercise ⚔️

After a preparatory phase conducting DCCT, FIBUA, CBRN, and BCD, the Squadron deployed to Warcop Training area for an intensive exercise covering the fundamentals of combat engineering and military engineering.

All in all, a great success!

A massive welcome to the Troop Commanders of RETCC
200 who are set to join the Divisional Engineer Regiment in the coming months. ⚔️

Welcomed by OC 29 Fd Sqn, and OC and 2IC of 23 Amph Engr Sqn they were dined into the Corps in the home of the Royal Engineers.

We wish them the best of luck as they head to their respective Squadrons in 21 Engineer Regiment!

Three members the Regiment deployed as part of the FLF(E) were invited to participate in the Estonian Defence Force's Cross-Country Skiing Championships 🇪🇪

Cross-county Skiing is a major part of Estonian culture, and not to mention incredibly physically demanding! This provided a great opportunity for soldiers to integrate with our host nation forces away from routine training and put their skills to the test in challenging conditions.

The team took part in both individual races and a team Patrol Race; with the added complexities of hitting the target immediately after strenuous, demanding exercise

Ex PIPERS SHOOT

21 Engineer Regiment have been busy training hard in 2025 🐻⚔️

29 Field Squadron deployed on Ex PIPERS SHOOT 25, conducting marksmanship training and annual testing, ready for supporting readiness throughout 2025.

The Divisional Engineer Regiment ensuring the 3rd (UK) Division can Live, Move, and Fight.

Fighting In Woods and Forests on Op CABRIT 15

Demonstrating Sapper excellence, SSgt Hollings organised an individual FIWAF shooting lane for 1st Field Squadron and elements of the NATO Battlegroup Estonia 🐻⚔️

This saw troops engaging dynamic targets in the thick Estonian forest with both the SA80 rifle and service pistol

An excellent opportunity for some engaging, challenging, and high performance training 🇪🇪🇬🇧

On Wednesday 29th January 2025, Phil Welch (ex RAPTC and Royal Engineer) delivered nutritional advice to over 200 personnel from 21 Engineer Regiment 🐻⚔️

During, Phil advised the Regiment on how simple lifestyle style changes can improve their physical and mental fitnes; providing valuable tuition around balanced diets, lifestyle choices that will enable them to take their fitness to the next level.

Wider Service Medals on Op CABRIT 15

The Defence Secretary, the Right Hon John Healey MP was in Tapa 19th Dec 2024 to present members of 1st Fd Sqn with the first Wider Service Medals 🇬🇧🇪🇪

This included Capt D, LCpl B of 21 Engineer Regiment and LCpl M of 42 Engineer Regiment (Geographic) all currently deployed with the Battlegroup.

21 Engineer Regiment are confident that the service personnel featured are the first three sappers to ever receive this medal 🐻⚔️

A massive congratulations for their service and commitment.

1st Fd Sqn have been delivering military engineering excellence on Op CABRIT15 alongside Griffon Company of the French Army 🇫🇷

The sub-units spent a week developing MilEng interoperability through a bi-national training package instructing on a multitude of close support bridging assets.

23 Amphibious Engineer Squadron have been busy training hard on the ME Amph Drivers Course 🔱

Potential drivers have deployed to various training areas around Germany to tackle off road driving, water entry, and various other demanding aspects of driving the 3rd (UK) Division’s only amphibious bridging vehicle 🐻⚔️

21 Engineer Regiment have kicked off the 2025 training year strong - always developing our capability to enable to live, move, and fight 🐻⚔️

Earlier this month 23 Amphibious Engineer Squadron, our Sub-Unit based in Germany, deployed to Sennelager's wintery ranges to practice Rifle marksmanship and conduct ACMTs 🔱
