One half term….TWO awards!! Well done Team Moorside for sustaining our ⭐️ Flagship ⭐️status for INCLUSION and for being reawarded the GOLD Healthy schools award! 🥇 🏆!! I am super proud of ALL our children, our staff and our fabulous indoor and outdoor provisions!! 😊 🎂💙

Year 5 had a wonderful day at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, exploring the sculptures, identifying the materials used and sharing their opinions about the artwork. The children also enjoyed sketching some of their favourite pieces. They showed fantastic resilience during a heavy afternoon downpour ☔️ , and luckily enjoyed their picnic whilst the weather was still dry! They came away feeling very inspired 🤔 💭 and can’t wait to learn more about sculptures during KS2 Art Week after half term!💙 What a great day out!! 😀

Team work was needed by Year 5 on Wednesday to build the biggest accessible den we have ever made at Forest School!! 🏕️ 💙The grey clouds ☁️ were getting nearer and the forecast was terrible. 💦The children worked together and communicated so well. A bit of problem solving was required but the huge den was a success! 👏 Unfortunately the hail started just after we tidied up 🌧️ 😅!!

We are SO grateful to Leehill Construction for sponsoring our safety booklets that we will be using during this year’s safety week later this term! Year 5 have been exploring forces in Science…. This week they were investigating water resistance! Using playdough to create different shapes, the children recorded their own slow-motion videos to measure how long each shape took to sink in seconds and milliseconds. 💦 They discovered that rounded and streamlined shapes sank the fastest, whilst flatter shapes with larger surface areas sank more slowly. A fun investigation with some fantastic scientific thinking and teamwork!

Year 4 had a fantastic day at Bland Close Farm learning all about animals and their environment. The children saw many animals that they hadn’t seen before, including alpacas and pigs!! They fed the cows and pigs and enjoyed holding the chicks 🐥 The children were fabulous 💙 and asked some great questions! Thank you so much to Bland Close farm for an amazing learning opportunity!! 😀
