๐Ÿšจ Community Alert โ€“ Heanor Gate ๐Ÿšจ

Weโ€™ve had reports of suspicious individuals in the Heanor Gate area during the early hours of the morning.

They have been seen parking on residential streets and checking vans, and there is concern they may also be targeting cars and potentially properties.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Police have been in the area today carrying out patrols, speaking with residents, and issuing crime prevention leaflets and guidance.

โš ๏ธ Please stay alert and:

Ensure vehicles are locked and valuables are removed
Secure your home, garages, and outbuildings
Consider CCTV, alarms, or sensor lighting
Report anything unusual or suspicious

๐Ÿš“ MINI POLICE๐Ÿš“

It's the last term of the school year!

However, our Mini Police Officers at Swanwick Primary School and Coppice Primary School have been very busy learning about pedestrian safety - completing their very own Speed Operations, and creating awareness posters and videos to share within school.
Some of the posters created were so great, we just had to share them with you all!๐Ÿ“ธ

As Mini Police Officers, the children are keen to teach and remind their peers the importance of the Green Cross Code and the Fatal 4.

As your local SNT, we would like to remind you all that school parking is an issue at every school across the Nation.
Nevertheless, in order to help us keep you and your children safe, we ask that you consider alternative modes of transport to and from school particularly during the 'nicer' weather, and that you are mindful of where and how you park if you are driving during school drop off/pick up times.

Safety tips for parking outside schools:
- Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
- Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
- If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or accessways.

Nine months ago, we teamed up with the Lion's Den gym and boxing club to work on a programme giving young people an outlet, steering them away from crime and anti-social behaviour, and providing them with an opportunity to put their energy into something better.

PCSO Colledge regularly attends sessions and checks in on the young people attending. The scheme has seen great success with changing attitudes - one young person at risk of criminality, through attending the boxing sessions, has even gone on to continue their training and pursue a career in sports.

As part of the Op Sceptre national knife crime campaign, which took place 18-24 May, he explained a bit about why it's so important to take action before a knife is even picked up.

๐Ÿš— Following several reports of anti-social driving in and around Shipley Park, officers have now taken action, and a Section 59 warning has been issued to the driver involved.

The behaviour reported included dangerous and anti-social driving ๐Ÿšซ, including vehicles performing โ€œdonutsโ€ ๐Ÿฉ โ€” and just to be clear, these arenโ€™t the kind of donuts we enjoy with a brew โ˜•๐Ÿ˜‰. This type of driving puts others at serious risk and will not be tolerated. This reckless behaviour puts others in danger, especially in a popular public space like Shipley Park where people should feel safe.

As a result of their actions, this driver has now faced consequences. A Section 59 โš ๏ธ has been issued, meaning if the vehicle is seen again being used in a similar anti-social manner, it can be seized ๐Ÿš“ with no further warning.

This also carries longer-term consequences. A Section 59 warning can impact insurance premiums ๐Ÿ“ˆ, as it is linked to anti-social vehicle use.

During the encounter, officers carried out checks and identified damage to the vehicleโ€™s tyres ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ, raising further concerns about roadworthiness. This can lead to penalty points on a licence and fines ๐Ÿ’ธ, as well as posing a serious safety risk.

Itโ€™s safe to say this behaviour has likely resulted in a difficult conversation at home ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ, on top of the legal consequences now in place.

๐Ÿšซ Let us be absolutely clear โ€“ we do NOT tolerate this behaviour in Derbyshire.

Officers will continue to proactively patrol, identify offenders, and take robust action. If you choose to drive in an anti-social or dangerous manner, you will be found and you will be dealt with.

We will continue targeted patrols in the area ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ to ensure Shipley Park remains a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.

๐Ÿ“ž Please continue to report any concerns โ€” your information really does make a difference.

With warmer weather here, more people are heading to open water spots across Derbyshire. Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is reminding everyone to stay safe and be aware of the risks and so are we!

Know the risks
๐Ÿ”น Even on hot days, open water is dangerously cold โ€“ cold water shock can affect anyone
๐Ÿ”น Strong currents, deep water, and hidden hazards (rocks, debris, sudden drops) can quickly put you in danger
๐Ÿ”น Reservoirs and quarries often have steep sides, making it difficult to get out

โœ… How to stay safe
๐Ÿ”น Stick to designated swimming areas and follow local safety signage
๐Ÿ”น Never swim alone โ€“ always go with someone who can raise the alarm
๐Ÿ”น Supervise children closely โ€“ stay within armโ€™s reach around water
๐Ÿ”น Avoid alcohol when in or near water โ€“ it significantly increases risk
๐Ÿ”น Wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid if you're paddleboarding, kayaking or boating
๐Ÿ”น Be aware of changing weather conditions and water levels

๐Ÿšจ In an emergency
๐Ÿ”น Call 999 or 112 and ask for Fire & Rescue
๐Ÿ”น Do not enter the water to rescue someone โ€“ this can put you at risk too
๐Ÿ”น Encourage the person to FLOAT TO LIVE:

โ€ข Tilt their head back with ears submerged
โ€ข Relax and try to control breathing
โ€ข Use arms and legs to stay afloat

We want everyone to enjoy the outdoors safely this summer!

Please take a moment to think before you enter the waterโ€”it could save your life.

A message from US - to keep YOU safe!!

We understand this time of year that it gets incredibly warm, and often nothing seems nicer than getting into cold water....

HOWEVER what some people fail to recognise is the dangers, year on year we see fatalities, recently several young fatalities in relation to swimming in lakes and ponds. Let me explain the risks below;

โ—๏ธCold water shock - When suddenly submerging in cold water after being warm, your body struggles to regulate its temprature which is results in gasping (for air), which can result in inhaling water (into your lungs) causing drowning - rapid breathin also increased carbon dioxide levels (can lead to fainting).

โ—๏ธPH levels - (commonly known as acid/alkaline levels) can differ, but can have the same PH value to bleach causing extreme skin irritation.

โ—๏ธBacteria and illness - Often ponds and lakes contain lots of harmful bacteria, which can cause severe illness to humans.

Please share this far and wide! Help us prevent fatalities this year. Because someone has potentially gotten away with it once before doesnt guarantee safety.

| We have been out dealing with parking issues today... You said, we did ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ

As can be seen - PCSO Colledge moved all three drivers off with advise - however, we note this is a regular issue to members of the public.

After speaking to local organisations, where we believe most drivers are going - they have ensured they will work with us to warn all drivers not to park on Mansfield Road causing obstructions.

In future - tickets will be getting issued to those causing an obstruction to lanes, such as on this photo - as it could easily cause an accident.

| We have been out and about Shipley Country Park this morning, engaging with the public ๐Ÿ™‚

It's been lovely to see so many people out and about, I have spoken to staff at the site to get more information around any issues at the park.

We will be making sure, based on concerns raised, we are patrolling more often - We know nuisance bikes and cars are a concern and will be dealing with those.
