Well, that was a bit of everything weather-wise!

We started the morning with a few raindrops, but thankfully the skies brightened with some lovely patches of blue during Event 462 at Moors Valley parkrun.

We were delighted to welcome visitors from near and far, including parkrunners from Wi******er, Cambridge, Romsey and Totnes, as well as all the way from Boulder, Colorado, USA! We hope you all enjoyed your visit to Moors Valley.

There was plenty to celebrate too. Happy 17th birthday to Matthew and happy 8th birthday to Isaac, who both marked their special days with a parkrun 🥳 We also had lots of milestone achievements across the field, which is always wonderful to see.

As this week marks Volunteers' Week 2026, it felt especially fitting to celebrate two of our amazing Duke of Edinburgh volunteers, who both reached their 10-volunteer milestone. Thank you to them — and to all our volunteers — for giving up your time to make parkrun happen every week. You are all stars! 🌟
If you'd like to volunteer with us, please email [email protected] with your barcode number so we can add you to the roster 🙏

And there's more celebrating to come! Next weekend (13–14 June) parkrun will reach the incredible milestone of one million parkrun events worldwide. We'll be joining in the celebrations the following week by keeping the party going at Moors Valley with our pacer event on 20 June. Whether you're chasing a PB, aiming for a target time or just coming along to enjoy the party atmosphere, we'd love to see you there. Fancy dress optional!

Thanks to everyone who walked, jogged, ran, volunteered, supported and smiled their way around the course this morning. Whatever the weather throws at us, it's always the people who make Moors Valley parkrun so special 🧡

Our latest run report from Saturday's parkrun is now online. Many thanks to Julie for volunteering her time to write it and capture the highlights of the morning of 30th May 2026.

Run reports are a great way to share the parkrun experience with others, giving visitors and newcomers a feel for our event, course and facilities. If you'd be interested in writing a future report, we'd love to hear from you!

Happy Volunteers' Week 2026!

This week, we want to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who give their time to support our events and community. We simply couldn't do it without you.

We're looking forward to our event on Saturday 6th June, but we still need 3 more marshals to help us run a safe and successful day. If you can spare a few hours and would like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Every volunteer makes a real difference.

Can you help? Please get in touch at [email protected] and join our fantastic team of volunteers!

Happy Volunteers’ Week!   Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) is one the most important weeks in the parkrun calendar – not just because we get to say thank you loudly. You’re the reason the finish funnel exists and the timers get clicked. You make hundreds of thousands of people’s weekend mornin...

⚠ 27th June 2026 - Important Event Update ⚠

Unfortunately, we have been asked by the Moors Valley Country Park team to cancel our event scheduled for 27th June 2026 due to other events taking place within the park on that date.

We know this may be disappointing, and we wanted to let everyone know as early as possible. Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with anyone who may have been planning to attend on 27th June 2026.

Thank you for your understanding & continued support 🧡

⚠️🚨 Moors Valley parkrun is CANCELLED this Saturday (23 May) 🚨⚠️

Due to the planned National Grid transformer delivery to Mannington Substation and the associated rolling road closures/disruption in the area, we’re unable to safely operate the event this weekend.

What a morning at Moors Valley parkrun! Sunshine, smiles, and milestones everywhere. Huge congratulations to Jude on his 100th parkrun – celebrated in style with cake and an awesome PB! 👏🍾🍰

We also welcomed an excellent & original costume in the form of a screw, who was fresh from London Marathon heroics and already keeping those legs ticking over for Dublin.

We’re so lucky to be able to hold our parkrun in the stunning Moors Valley Country Park, backed by the most amazing volunteers and an awesome parkrun community.
Check out Neil’s photos – proof that running can be sweaty, scenic, and celebratory all at once.

And now, a cheeky plea: we need volunteers! If you can clap, shout encouragement, wave a flag, or just look like you know what you’re doing, we’ll take you. Think of it as your good deed for the week… plus, rumor has it volunteers have the secret power of making runners feel faster. Please email [email protected] and help our VC's to have a smooth week.

See you next Saturday – let’s make it another one to remember!

What a glorious morning at Moors Valley parkrun #4️⃣5️⃣9️⃣. A fantastic 630 people joined us today, including 84 first timers discovering the magic of parkrun for the very first time.

We hope you felt right at home from the moment you arrived. There’s no pressure, no “race-day” intensity, it's you versus you, fresh air, friendly faces and a community cheering each other on every single week. A morning filled with smiles, encouragement, laced up trainers, coffee plans and that unmistakable parkrun buzz. Whether you ran, walked, wheeled, volunteered, spectated or simply came along for the chat afterwards, thank you for making this morning happen.

🌎We also loved welcoming visitors from near and far this morning. Huge tourist shout-outs to our parkrun travellers from Somerset, Torquay, Teignmouth, Stoke, Lincoln and Plymouth. Come back and see us soon.

🎉A massive Happy Birthday goes to Zena celebrating today! 🎉 What a brilliant way to celebrate. Happy Birthday as well to everyone else marking Birthdays, milestones and special occasions this weekend. Cake is definitely earned.

👏Today was packed with milestone magic too. Congratulations to everyone reaching new parkrun landmarks, whether official or unofficial. Special applause goes to our wonderful regular Ron Walmsley, who achieved the amazing double of his 250th parkrun and his 100th volunteer milestone. That perfectly sums up what parkrun is all about; showing up, supporting others and being part of the community week after week. Ron, thank you for everything you contribute to Moors Valley.

🦺And speaking of contributions… parkrun simply doesn’t happen without volunteers. Every timer click, barcode scan, marshal cheer, funnel smile and finish token handoff comes from people giving their time so others can enjoy their Saturday morning. To every single volunteer today, THANK YOU. Your encouragement keeps the event welcoming, relaxed and inclusive for everyone, from nervous first timers to seasoned parkrunners catching up with friends.

There were also an incredible 78 personal bests this morning; proof that success at parkrun comes in many forms. For some, it’s a fastest time. For others, it’s getting out the door, completing a first full lap without stopping, meeting new people, or simply starting the weekend with movement and community.

Most importantly, today felt exactly like parkrun should feel: supportive, uplifting and open to everyone. Fast or steady, young or old, local or tourist, walkers, runners and volunteers alike.

Same time next Saturday? 💚

Moors Valley parkrun #458 brought a lovely sense of community to the forest this week, as 648 people came together to run, jog, and walk the course.

There were plenty of individual moments to celebrate as 77 people recorded Personal Bests, and 95 people joined us for their very first parkrun. A big welcome to you all, we hope you felt part of the community straight away.

We were also delighted to welcome visitors from Whitstable, Cranleigh, Gosport, Letchworth, Andover, and Surrey. It’s always great to see new faces and share our course with people from different places.

A big thank you goes to our wonderful team of 49 hi-vis heroes. Whether you were marshalling, scanning, timing, or tail walking, your support and encouragement help create the friendly and inclusive atmosphere that makes parkrun what it is.

Steve was on the course taking pictures. You can find them here:

Congratulations to everyone who celebrated a milestone, or celebration.

Whatever your pace, whatever your reason for being there. Thank you for being part of it, and we look forward to seeing you again next week.
