Nearby Marwell Zoo recently took delivery of 2 new Capybara, but Samba escaped and is still on the loose, today she showed up to help me with a bit of sewing! 😁

After making a couple of bears from some lovely clothing, I was asked if I could use some of the rest to make some baby bunting for as well- always up for a new challenge, this is how it was created, I love how it looks!

Thought I'd join in with this trend!
Not sure it's fully accurate, but I like how happy I look busy creating keepsakes in my sewing room- that is accurate!

This goat pattern has been in the drawer since I took over Stitchwork Memories, but last year was the first time someone had asked me for one, and I think these 2 goats came out really beautifully using a lovely selection of clothing, showing how well different colours can blend together well to create this special keepsake.

While the monkey has always been a popular keepsake, I haven't been asked for a gorilla until autumn last year.
This lovely pattern produced a very friendly gorilla with a lovely squishy tummy to give a reassuring cuddle.
As a sewer of many years, the pattern matching in the first gorilla gave me immense pleasure when he came out too!

8 years!
8 years ago I replied to message on Facebook that 2 lovely ladies were looking to sell their business on as they were struggling to find the time to fit it in. After an evenings conversation with them to discuss it, I was very happy to take up their offer, and suddenly I became the new owner of Stitchwork Memories!
At the time I had 2 young children at home, and no immediate plans to return to full-time work. I had learnt to sew from a young age from my mum, enjoying cross stitch particularly. At secondary school we had sewing classes, making an apron for our mum's for Christmas in our 1st term! I continued to use these skills at college when I trained as a Norland Nanny and we had sewing lessons every Tuesday of lecture week!
It seemed like a perfect opportunity, coming at just the right time and 8 years on I could not be happier to continue creating special and unique keepsakes from precious family clothing to preserve memories of your loved ones.
I look forward to the next 8 years, and many more after that! Alex.x

2025 was a year of a number of new patterns, or ones I had but had never been asked for- this dolphin has been sat in the draw, just waiting to be selected and then in the space of a couple of weeks there were 2 separate orders for them.
One dolphin was made from a nan's favourite blouse, and the other from a mix of granddad's shirts and polo shirts, both creating their own characters.

As the children head back to school, I can now share this school leavers bear that was given as a Christmas gift.
These are always popular memory bears, and are a fantastic way to treasure precious memories as children grow.
This was also a little extra special as it's the 1st time I have embroidered an "Alexandra" in all the years making these keepsakes- best name ever!!😀
