🚗 Visiting the Yorkshire Dales? Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle

As the warmer weather brings more visitors to our beautiful Dales, we’re reminding everyone to take a few simple steps to keep your belongings safe.

Unfortunately, theft from vehicles can happen anywhere – even in rural car parks. Opportunist thieves will target cars where items are left on display, as it only takes seconds to break in.

✅ Take valuables with you where possible
✅ If you must leave items, keep them out of sight (boot/under seats)
✅ Make sure your vehicle is locked and windows are fully closed
✅ Try to park in well-used, visible areas

Let’s keep our communities and visitors safe so everyone can enjoy what the Yorkshire Dales has to offer 💚

Inconsiderate parking at the Falls 😡 😤

We expected it to be busy in Richmond this weekend, but what isn't acceptable is the parking we have seen down at the Falls, and into the wider area of Richmond market place.

Officers on the Richmondshire NPT have been on patrol today, and have had to spend the majority of their time down at Richmond Falls, tied up with people parking inconsiderately and extremely dangerously.

Had there have been an emergency in the area, emergency vehicles would not have been able to access those in need.

Along with traffic enforcement from the council, the NPT have issued over 50 tickets this afternoon to vehicles parked in what can only be described as an idiotic manner. There quite easily could have been more tickets issued, we simply haven't been able to get to every vehicle due to the shear amount of traffic in the area.

We appreciate this message may not reach those from out of area who have travelled to us and parked as they have. But, we would like to reassure the communities of Richmond that we take the safety of the town seriously, and will not tolerate another weekend like this.

Please, if you can share this far and wide so that people coming to Richmond respect the area, and look after our beauty spot as they should.
