Been a bit quiet still on social media..... Lots to be done on the farm and during school holidays....few photos collected from the last few weeks

Still here .....not much good at this social media the last few months. Lots going on. We have had a few lovely social distant groups out to the hay meadows, we have gathered for marking, put a tracking collar on the cattle, done a few talks, had a new addition to the pack and general things about the farm. However the camera has been out on occasion....not too much but a few images from the last few weeks here in the Elan valley hills 😊

It's been weeks since posting....busy lambing and this week fencing is on the cards. We have had a few calves but at the moment I've not had the camera out too much to hand. These are a few from the last few weeks.....looking forward to dusting off the macro lens. There's a stoat with kits in the log pile but she's so quick I haven't managed a photo ....but 🤞

It's lambing!!!! Out from early morning to late at night....just enough time to download photos whilst doing supper. Been a tough few days in lambs in the artic wind..... These are tough little darlings.... Some of my favourite moments....and yes we had a small flurry of snow - lucky 📷 was there. X

It's never a dull moment on the hill here. Meet Jack Black who came home with me today when I was out feeding the sheep....the first tiddler for this year. Other moments include the lamb that's a lion, skylark watcher, balance dirt on your lip and curiosity. Sheep are actually quite fascinating to observe..... They don't always just graze.....but they are infuriating at times to photograph....I think they are deliberately trying to photobomb and step Infront of my wanted photo. But it's all fun ...x

Some randoms over the last two weeks. Home schooling continues (in all forms). Tending to cattle and sheep (run up to lambing). Repairs on farm and the odd moment watching the birds. Waiting for the siskins to come back now maybe we will get redpoll visit again????? Getting round to scanning some of the historic photos in the old trunk.

First of 2021..... 6 weeks early than expected for lambing .... Mums tending to her well and Aidan even got a little cuddle when we were working in the pens this week.

Many times on cold frosty or snowy nights when out with dogs or cattle or just for fun I can be mesmerised by the stars and the twinkling glitter of moonlight on the ground. I sometimes feel like they are times to soak in the beauty for future reference. Night before last was like that. Though I nearly lost a thumb with cold I spent an age trying to photograph the twinkling snow under the stars. I was very passionate about moving forward the international dark sky status and it was these moments that inspired me along with enthusiastic friends. This photo only captures a small bit of the magic but it's a good start 😂

Some photos from the last few days....I'm afraid when the weather is like this I'm not in much and having the stock to see too (and sneaking off to the next hill to see their beautiful Highlands) is full of moments that I have to bring the 📷. I've taken far too many pictures.....and I have a wind blown face for all my outings lol.

This blessed landscape...... I feel very humbled and pleased that I was able to write and article for Natur Cymru. A welsh newsletter all about the Welsh countryside and wildlife. I felt it was important to highlight just how important and complex the uplands are to deliver for wildlife, climate, community and landscape. That Nature Friendly Farming is something that delivers for our business and for the environment and biodiversity. I felt so happy they used my photos of the area/wildlife and the Welsh clearwing managed to get a little bit of page space. A super magazine and happy to be part of its relaunch.
