Urgent notice - Be aware

We have received information of a potential rogue trader operating in Resolven recently. He has been visiting properties and advising that he has done work on neighbours roofs and noticed that the roof of the person he has called on’s roof also needs work. He charges cash and leaves no paperwork or means of contact. One victim has been charged £320.

Please notify the Police or Trading Standards if anyone has called on you.

Notice to All Residents

It has come to our attention that some young children have been attempting to climb the nets in the park. These nets are in place to prevent footballs from entering residents’ properties and are not designed for climbing.

Recently, a child became caught hanging by one foot, which could have resulted in a serious fall.

If your children use the park without supervision, please remind them not to climb the nets or the shelter, as this behaviour has also been observed there.

Thank you for your co-operation

Beyond belief that someone decided to put white paint on one of the swings and the disabled swing. We go a long way to improve the parks, and sometimes it doesn't seem worth it. If anyone knows who is responsible please let us know.

On Sunday March 8th there will be a Co-vid-19 National Day of Reflection,

It was a very difficult time for many and in remebrance of those we sadly lost during that time, as a Community Council we created a permanent memorial stone, a lasting place where family, friends, and members of the community can visit, reflect and remember their loved ones.

Please feel free to visit and remember.

As many may be aware the 3G Pitch Project will not go ahead.
The proposal for the 3G pitch was initially presented in March 2024, with a projected completion date of March 2026.
Over the following two years, significant progress was achieved, particularly in securing community support. A number of local organisations formally expressed their backing for the project.
A grant application for a feasibility study was submitted to the Pen Y Cymoedd Wind Farm Fund in the sum of £15,979.82, which was successfully awarded.
Following this, the necessary preparatory work commenced. This included planning requirements, public consultation, engagement with major development contractors, lighting and noise impact assessments, adjustments to pitch specifications, and various additional compliance and technical matters.
During this period, a full funding application was submitted to the Pen Y Cymoedd Wind Farm Fund for £443,894.18. Additional funding sources were approached, securing approximately 9% of the total project cost.
There was no early indication that the funding application would be unsuccessful. However, as the feasibility study was nearing completion, the Pen Y Cymoedd Fund advised that they were not willing to act as the principal funder.
At that stage, there remained hope that Sport Wales might be able to bridge the funding gap. Unfortunately, this was not possible and, with great disappointment, it was confirmed that the project will not proceed at this time.
Members expressed their sincere thanks to Mr Paul Hinder for his dedication and tireless work on behalf of the Community and the Community Council in progressing this project.
It is hoped that, in the future, an alternative funding source may enable the project to be revived, particularly as substantial preparatory work has already been completed.
