Our firefighters are currently dealing with a domestic property fire in near Sutton.

Residents nearby may notice a large emergency service presence and a significant amount of smoke.

Everyone in the property has been accounted for and our crew is bringing the fire under control. We have six fire engines at the scene.

If you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors closed. Thank you.

🔥 Please be wildfire aware this weekend.

Swap BBQs for picnics and don’t light campfires or bonfires. Wildfires can spread faster than you think.

Help protect our Surrey countryside. If you spot a wildfire, call 999 immediately. 🌿

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service has been working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on future governance arrangements following Local Government Reorganisation.

The current direction is to establish a Combined Fire and Rescue Authority (CFRA) for Surrey, pending a Government consultation. The intention is for the CFRA to begin as of 1 April 2027 (known as Vesting Day).

A Combined Fire and Rescue Authority is essentially a 'standalone' fire and rescue service which is governed by elected councillors - from the unitary council elections that recently took place.

We are working through this as a service and will continue to keep you updated. You will not see any difference: if you need us in an emergency or contact us for support, we will be there.

Important water safety advice from our colleagues at the National Fire Chiefs Council - NFCC 🌊👇

As temperatures rise this half-term, we are urging everyone to take extra care around open water.

It might feel tempting to cool off, but rivers, lakes and reservoirs can be dangerously cold even in hot weather. Cold water shock can hit instantly and lead to serious risk.

Water Safety Public Safety Advice:
- Speak to young people about the dangers of open water.
- Swim in supervised locations.
- Do not jump into water to cool off.
- Never enter the water to attempt a rescue – instead call 999 immediately.
- If spending time in, on or around water, install location apps such as what3 words so if an incident should happen emergency services know where you are.
- Do not enter the water if you have been drinking alcohol.
- Make sure you know how to help yourself and other people in the event of a water-related emergency.

If you see someone else in trouble in the water, remember Phone, Float, Throw:

It’s , the perfect time to put safety first on the water!

Fires can happen when you least expect them, so a few simple checks can make all the difference:

🔥 Test your smoke alarms regularly while onboard
🍳 Always switch off cooking appliances after use
🗒️ Make an emergency plan with everyone onboard
🔧 Keep an eye on your fuel and electrical systems with routine checks

We also offer Safe and Well visits for House boats, where our friendly team will stop by and make sure your home is safe!

🛟💦 Parents! As we head into the summer months, have a chat with your young people about how to stay safe around water.

Teaching your child what to do if they get into trouble in the water could save their life one day.
