Council payments and services: Recycling bags and boxes can be collected from Redruth Library free of charge. Seagull proof bags available at a cost of £3.50. Our extensive research shows that children that have finished the Cornwall Reading Challenge are in fact cooler and more interesting 😉 Don’t worry if your children haven't finished yet - they have until 12th September to claim their medal and a voucher for a free Treasure Trail worth £10.99!

If coming into the library is tricky now school has started, Redruth Library is open until 17:00 Monday to Friday and we'll have extended opening on Saturday 12th September 10:00-15:00.

Have your children finished the Cornwall Reading Challenge? Don’t worry if not - they have until 12th September to claim their medal and a voucher for a free Treasure Trail worth £10.99!

If coming into the library is tricky now school has started, Redruth Library will be open this Saturday 5th September 10:00-13:00 and will have extended opening on Saturday 12th September 10:00-15:00.

Hippo has already used his swimming voucher to practice his synchronised swimming at Carn Brea! You have until 23rd October to use the swim voucher that comes in the Extraordinary Explorers booklet 🏊

As requested, join us at Redruth Library at 6 PM on Wednesday 9th September to find out more about the history of photography, which might go back longer than you think. Explore 3 camera obscuras that our director Pete has made. Using the projected images as your guide, create your own portrait or still life.

You'll also have the opportunity to make a simple camera obscura to take home.

Tickets are start at a £1 donation, if you can’t use Eventbrite, get in touch to book your place. By email [email protected] or in person at Redruth library.

📖Join us for our author event week as we welcome the author Lorna Marlow to Redruth.

Lorna will share the inspiration behind her books, her path to publication and tell us what draws her to writing stories set in Cornwall as well as giving a reading from one of her books. There will be a chance to purchase Lorna's books at this event.

Lorna is an author of romantic suspense novels that are set in Cornwall. She is the author of Finding Home, shortlisted for Debut Novel of the Year 2026 by the Romantic Novelists Association. Her second novel, Sisters of the Tide will be published in September 2026. Both novels are set in Cornwall and tell tales of love, loss, betrayal and revenge – a perfect mix of romance, mystery and suspense set against the dramatic Cornish coastline.

From solving mysteries in Redruth to uncovering hidden hoards in Mevagissey, there are 64 Treasure Trails across Cornwall waiting to be explored. Sign up for the Cornwall Reading Challenge at your local library, complete your 6 activities and choose your adventure!
