💜 “Coming here is one of the things that makes me happy. It helps you build your life back up again.”

For Colin, life changed in an instant when he experienced a stroke in 2023. Once a business owner and sports enthusiast who loved meeting people and staying active, his world was turned upside down.

But step by step, he’s rebuilding.

At Corserv Care’s Echo Centre in Liskeard, Colin has found more than rehabilitation, he’s found motivation, friendships, and a sense of normality again. From adapted sports and gardening to simply sharing time with others who understand, it’s been a vital part of his recovery.
“I try to keep as active as I can… coming here has made it so much better.”

Colin’s story is a powerful reminder that recovery doesn’t happen overnight. It’s about small steps, determination, and the right support. This Action on Stroke Month, we celebrate people like Colin and the incredible role centres like Echo play in helping people rebuild their lives 💜

From recovery to confidence, and lasting friendships 🤝

Our latest 12-week rehabilitation programme at the Echo Centre in Liskeard has come to a close, and what a journey it's been!

Delivered in partnership with the community rehab and stroke team, this group achieved so much. Members have returned to work, built up confidence, stepped into volunteering, and so much more. They also built something just as important: a strong support network that will continue to keep them connected well beyond the programme.

The group marked the occasion with scones, a pasty lunch and a cream tea... and a very special thank you to the Echo Team: a crab apple tree, planted together as a symbol of growth, resilience and a lasting reminder of their incredible journey 🌳🍎

A huge well done to everyone involved. This is what person-centred care is all about 👏
