Important warning about disrepair claim scams
We’re seeing an increase in individuals visiting homes unannounced, encouraging customers to make disrepair claims against Raven. These people may say they’re from a charity, “from housing”, or that they have a legal team. They may ask you to sign documents promising compensation or repairs.
While the offer might sound helpful, there are some serious risks involved:
- Some solicitors dealing with disrepair claims can take up to 60% of your compensation – that’s money meant for you.
- If you change your mind after the 14-day cooling-off period, you could be charged thousands of pounds in legal fees.
- You may be required to attend a court trial and be cross-examined, which can be a stressful and time-consuming process.
In this video, you’ll hear directly from a Raven customer who has been targeted by these scammers and the impact it had on her.
If you notice a repair in your home, the best thing to do is report it directly to us. We're here to support you and get issues fixed as quickly as possible. Our priority is to keep you and your home safe and well maintained.
If you have been contacted by one of these companies, and you're concerned because you’ve already signed paperwork, check the cooling off period in the information they’ve given you, as you may still be able to cancel.
Please remember, if you’re unhappy with any aspect of our service, including how we’ve handled a repair, you don’t need to go through a solicitor. You can raise concerns or even claim compensation safely through our formal complaints process.
Keep your personal information safe - please don’t sign documents or share personal details with cold callers. If you’re unsure, contact us directly on 0300 123 3399.
