We've had great uptick of local people picking up food, and reducing food waste from our local Sainsburys, Tesco, Pret & Boots. Thank you so much to those people and again to our local Olio volunteers.. However..
There have been multiple and repeated instances of rudeness and abusive behaviour towards these local volunteers. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. It should go without saying - please treat volunteers with respect, they are giving up their time for free and it goes without saying, for a good cause.
If you spot this happening - do message here and we will aim to assist.

Just in case people aren't aware, the Earlswood recycling centre is closed today due to a fire.
To reiterate - we need to be extremely careful with any open flames or anything that can create sparks. The disposal of batteries needs to be properly at a battery recycling, not just thrown into general waste. All across our borough, let's not see a repeat of images on the news over the last few weeks.

Too many of our local arts venues are closed - This is a fantastic local venue, we do hope they are successful in fighting this. We want to support live music where we can and hope Reigate & Banstead council can change their mind ASAP allowing summer events to go on as planned!

We are extremely saddened by the passing of Cllr Mus Tary. We know the loss will be deeply felt across this council and our community.
The Leader and Mayor have paid tribute to Cllr Mus Tary; “As councillor for Hooley, Merstham and Netherne, he was an incredibly positive, friendly and approachable man. He was committed to his role as Executive Member for Housing & Support, championing schemes to help residents access affordable housing. Mus was interested in people and community, passionate about his football and a powerful advocate for the improvements to Merstham Recreation Ground."
