This morning's training at RNLI Redcar was towing practice.

Thanks to Red Lion Marine Ltd our volunteer crew got to tow the former St David's Tyne class lifeboat previously known as Garside, with the number 47-026.

The boat is now named RLM Norman Bennett in tribute to the former Tees Pilot Cutter skipper.

The chance to tow a boat of this size gives training a very realistic feel and provides an invaluable opportunity for our crew to learn.

Our lifeboats carry a 'boat phone' as an emergency communications backup if radio comms fail.

SHOUT: 14:25 - Launch both lifeboats after reports of a person cut off at Boulby Cliffs.

Both boats were recalled whilst enroute
