✨ Our Radiotherapy team is proudly supporting Miles for Radiotherapy 2026 again this year — and ReadingRReady is the team to support! 💛💪 🚶‍♀️🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏊‍♂️

✨Our incredible staff champions have kicked off the challenge with energy, creativity and determination. From sunrise steps in Blackpool, to cycling, and nature walks across Reading — every point is pushing our team forwards.

Special shout‑out to Mary, Minnie, Derek, Linda, Rory, Ed, Nasser and the whole “Reading R Ready” crew who are keeping us competitive (Oxford… we’re coming for you). 😎

This year’s points system means all activities count, and our team is already climbing the table. Mary’s weekly staff blog is also back, sharing everything from her volunteering in the Oasis wellbeing centre, to staff and family members joining the leaderboard — proving that movement can be joyful, social and good for wellbeing.

We’re proud of everyone taking part. Keep logging, keep moving, and keep supporting radiotherapy services across the UK.

Join us in cheering on the team!

What is Miles4Radiotherapy?

Miles4Radiotherapy is Radiotherapy UK’s annual virtual summer fundraising challenge, running throughout July and August. Participants complete miles (or activities converted into miles/points) using the Race At Your Pace app, and every mile contributes to a national total.

The challenge raises vital funds for Radiotherapy UK’s Patients & Families Online Hub — a free, trusted, accredited resource supporting adults with cancer before, during and after radiotherapy.

Everyone can take part: all ages, all abilities, at home or outdoors. Walking, running, cycling, swimming, gardening, housework — it all counts. You can join individually or as a team, set your own goals, and track progress on leaderboards.

This year’s target: 200,000 miles to support the creation of more high‑quality radiotherapy information for patients across the UK.

Last week we officially began delivering radiotherapy treatment on our brand‑new Elekta EVO Linear Accelerator — a major milestone for our Radiotherapy Department.

This achievement follows a busy year of planning, development, construction, testing and calibration, and we are incredibly proud of the teams who made it possible.

The new Linac brings a range of benefits, including:

• Enhanced treatment accuracy through advanced imaging and motion‑management
• Improved patient comfort with quieter, faster treatment delivery
• Greater efficiency enabling us to treat more patients each day
• Future‑ready technology supporting innovation in radiotherapy for years to come

A huge thank you to all colleagues involved; your dedication ensures our patients continue to receive safe, high‑quality cancer treatment 💙
