A brilliant morning spent at the University of Reading alongside colleagues from the NHS, talking to people about finding work that actually fits around real life.

School runs. Caring for a relative. Studying. Another job. Life does not pause while you look for work, and it should not have to.

Care is one of the few sectors where flexible really does mean flexible. Mornings only, evenings, weekends, term time. If you have ever thought "I would love to do something meaningful but I just cannot commit to nine to five", we would love to talk to you.

What is the one thing that puts people off applying for a role like this? We would genuinely like to know.

We ordered a giant Facebook frame for events.

Turns out the hardest part is not the posing. It is passing it to the next person without taking out a plant, a monitor and somebody's lunch on the way.

Health and safety were not consulted. Health and safety are us. We have had a word with ourselves.

"I don't know what I'd do without Apex." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

That's how a family member described the team who care for her mum. She called them her mum's "dream team." Kind, thoughtful, and always at the end of the phone whenever she needs them.

Five stars across the board. Care, Staff, Management, Value, all of it.

Knowing her mum is happy, safe and well cared for gives her real peace of mind. And that right there is the whole reason we do this.

A brand new month is here, bringing with it fresh opportunities, new beginnings, and countless chances to make a positive difference in someone's day.

As we welcome August, we'd like to take a moment to thank our incredible carers, clients, families, and everyone who supports Apex Healthcare Services. Your kindness, trust, and dedication are what make our work so meaningful. Whether you're providing care, receiving care, supporting a loved one, or cheering us on from afar, you're an important part of our journey.

To our amazing care team, thank you for everything you do each and every day. Your compassion, patience, and commitment never go unnoticed, and the difference you make in people's lives is truly invaluable.

🎙️ Everyone Has a Story... Sometimes an Incredible One!

One of the greatest privileges of working in care is getting to know the people behind the care plans.

Our live-in carer often shares some of the wonderful stories our client tells her about her younger years. She remembers working for EMI, where she saw many well-known artists come and go as they recorded their music. On another occasion, she told her carer about meeting Kate Winslet, who was born right here in Reading. 🎬✨

It's incredible to think about the lives our older generation have lived.

Every older person has lived through decades of history. They've seen the world change, witnessed incredible moments, and often have stories that are fascinating, funny and sometimes completely unexpected.

Working in care isn't just about supporting people with daily tasks. It's about listening, learning and appreciating the remarkable lives they've lived. Every visit is an opportunity to hear another story, learn something new, or see the world through someone else's memories. It's one of the many reasons working in care is so rewarding.

So next time you visit an older relative, or someone you support, ask them about their younger days.

You might be surprised by what you discover. ❤️
