If you’re celebrating Halloween with your pet, make sure their comfort and safety come first.

Some pets find wearing a costume stressful, uncomfortable, or even frightening. Sadly, many owners don’t always see the subtle signs that their pet is unhappy.

Besides, they’re perfect just as they are - no spooky costume required! 🎃

It’s , a chance to celebrate the vital role green spaces play in boosting the health and wellbeing of our residents and communities

We’re lucky to have so many beautiful parks and open spaces in Reading. Please help us keep them clean and safe for everyone by picking up after your dog.

Dog waste can go in any bin, but if the bin is full, please take it with you rather than leaving it behind.

You can report dog mess or a full bin quickly and easily using the Love Clean Reading app:

Otis and I had a fantastic time visiting Redlands Primary School recently, where we chatted with some brilliant Year Two and Year Four pupils about what it means to be a responsible dog owner 🐶

We covered everything from the importance of picking up after our pups to why microchipping matters. The kids even got to scan Otis to check for his chip.

They also helped us choose an official name for the new Reading Animal Warden mascot. After some amazing suggestions, the randomly selected winning name was…Harley!

A huge thank you to the staff and students for such a warm welcome, and the lovely card for Otis and me.

As we enjoy the warm weather, it’s important to keep a careful eye on our furry friends 🐶

Make sure your pets have access to shade and water at all times

Head out on walks early in the morning, or later in the evening to avoid the hottest times of the day

Dogs with white or light colour fur are at higher risk of sunburn – use a pet-safe sunscreen on exposed parts of your pet's skin like tips of the ears and nose

June is 🐶🐱

It’s a legal requirement for all owned dogs and cats to be microchipped. It’s a quick and simple procedure that can make all the difference if your pet ever goes missing

Microchips are permanent, reliable, and give your furry friend the best chance of finding their way home should they ever go missing

Even if your pet wears a collar or name tag, these can be easily removed or come loose and fall off

Pet microchipped already? Take 5 minutes to ensure your contact details are up to date with your vet practice
