Important: For any customers wishing to visit the Ranger Station on Sunday 22nd March there will be road closures around Prospect Park. Please plan ahead and seek alterative parking as the road for our carpark will be closed from 9am and open after 2pm.

Get set for the Green Park Reading Half Marathon 2026
One of the standout events on the UK race calendar returns to Reading on Sunday 22 March
Residents encouraged to check for road closures and to plan ahead if travelling on race day
The streets of Reading will be filled with thousands of runners taking part in the Green Park Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 22 March.

Seasoned runners, fitness enthusiasts and first timers will be coming together to take on the 13-mile route through the heart of Reading.

Rolling road closures will take place throughout the day and residents are being advised to plan ahead if they intend to travel on race day.

Roads along the route can be closed at any point between 6am and 4pm on Sunday 22 March but a list of roads affected, and guideline of closure times can be found at: https://rdguk.info/ujrqq

Temporary diversions will be in place and closures will be removed as soon as it is safe to do so. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

Half marathon runners will set off from Green Park at 10.15am on 22 March and head towards Whitley before taking in the Reading University campus, crossing the Kennet and making their way into the heart of the town centre.

From there, they will travel west towards Prospect Park before looping back around and down the A33 Relief Road to the Select Car Leasing Stadium, the home of Reading FC, for the big finish in front of thousands of spectators.

The Council has worked with Thames Water to allow runners temporary access to Bennet Road on race day despite the ongoing road closure due to water network repairs.

A full route map can be found at: https://rdguk.info/NIDwR

The family-friendly 3km Mini Marathon is also taking place at 8.30am on 22 March but is contained within Green Park.

The Reading Half Marathon has been a fixture of the town since 1983 and has become one of the most popular annual events for runners in the UK. It has raised millions for local charities and is supported by around 15,000 spectators along the route every year.

The Green Park Reading Half Marathon 2026 is organised by Goldline Events and the Council supports the event by co-ordinating road closures, hosting the information point for participants at the stadium and staffing a residents’ hotline.

Cllr Adele Barnett-Ward, Lead Councillor for Culture and Leisure, said:

“We welcome thousands of runners taking part in the Reading Half Marathon every year along with their friends and family who come to cheer them on.

“Reading residents also line the route and help create a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere for runners on race day.

“Of course, roads do have to be temporarily closed throughout the day so I would urge residents to check the roads affected and closure times if they are planning to travel on Sunday 22 March.”

For full information on road closures, visit: https://rdguk.info/OIMRr

A Reading Half-Marathon residents’ hotline will be operating throughout the day on: 07736 007452.

March 11th is your day — a day for everyone to recognise just how amazing you are and to acknowledge everything you do, all while trying to enjoy simply being a child.

You are a remarkable group of young people who truly deserve every bit of recognition, appreciation, and praise.

We are proud to support you, and we love being able to offer a space where you can meet other young carers, build connections, and create long-lasting friendships.
Thank you for everything you do. You inspire us every day.

From all of us at Reading Play, we salute you 🫡.

As 2025 comes to an end, we want to celebrate all the children who have used our clubs throughout the year and a thank you to parents/carers for your trust and support while leaving your children in our care.

From Holiday Club to Short Breaks to Young Carers, every smile, every moment, and every memory has been brighter because of the children. We hope that you feel the same way as we do.

The team have enjoyed seeing how creative the children can be, how much joy and laughter they bring to the clubs and witnessing new friendships being formed.

Wishing you a Christmas filled with peace, love, and happiness, and a New Year full of new possibilities. We will see you back in the new year.

With heartfelt thanks,
