St Joseph's College

St Joseph's College St Joseph's College is a thriving independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18 years.

We are extremely proud of our school and see our pupils flourish in a trusting and encouraging environment where they feel heard and valued. Our smaller size creates a breadth of opportunity and responsibility for your child that you can rarely find elsewhere. At St Joseph’s we don’t just talk about values, we really live them.

This week our STEP students went to the Royal Courts of Justice for the final STEP trip of the year. Students took part in a mock trial - Cooper was our defendant and was questioned ruthlessly by Freya who acted as the Prosecution Barrister. However, the Jury (Miss Marandola) was not convinced by the evidence so we are pleased to say Cooper's character was found not guilty! An exciting day for all and a really lovely way to round off the Student Extension Programme.

Just before half term, the One Day Film School came in to work with our Year 7 and 8 Drama Club students and our Drama STEP programme pupils.

Around 70 students had the opportunity to learn about stage fighting, different types of camera shots, film production and editing. At the end of the day the films were screened to an audience of students and parents and Oscar’s awarded for best film, best actor and best technical achievement. Watch this space for the films to be revealed!

As always our students were incredibly creative and industrious and produced impressive work in such a short space of time. Thank you again to the One Day Film School team for making this happen.

The latest new topic this term for Reception is 'Let's go to the Beach' and last week they focused on under the sea animals. The children enjoyed exploring the sensory tin and making their own oceans in the water tray. They used creative resources to make their own fish and jellyfish too.

On Friday, we hosted the final of our House Chess Tournament, with Richardson taking on Dixon as Year 9's Evan faced Year 6's Felix.

It was a very close match, with both players showing great skill and determination throughout. After a nail-biting finish, Evan was crowned House Chess Champion for a consecutive year.

Well done to both boys on a fantastic game and for representing their Houses so well. You were both brilliant. ♟️

Following the recent news regarding the possible closure of the College, we have decided to extend the invitation to our Alumni Reunion to the wider St Joseph’s community.

We know how much St Joseph’s means to so many people, and we take great comfort in the memories, friendships and experiences we continue to share. We hope this event will provide a special opportunity for former pupils, parents, staff and friends of the College to come together once again and reflect on what St Joseph’s has meant to each of us.

Spaces are limited, so please book your place now: https://bit.ly/4uHdkvj

What a wonderful assembly from Pre-Reception yesterday!

Even though they are only 3 and 4 years old, they walked parents through their school day with such confidence and enthusiasm. From phonics and spelling to number bonds to 5, oracy and RE, we could see just how much they have learned over this year.

Well done, Pre-Reception!
