There is still a chance to get a free ticket for the first Community Seminar Series hosted by Sociology at the University of Reading: ‘Who Lives in a House Like This? Race, Racism and Social (In)Justice in Housing’.

This thought-provoking talk will explore how racism and inequality continue to shape housing experiences for minoritised ethnic communities across the UK, drawing on national survey and census data alongside community-based research.

The Reading Water Fest Team is looking for enthusiastic volunteer stewards to help them welcome visitors during the event and keep the day running smoothly!

What you’ll gain:
✅ Experience of working within an events team
✅ Experience of welcoming visitors of all ages, in an engaging environment
✅ Learning more about Reading’s charity and community organisations
✅ A fun day out!

📆 Saturday 27 June, the shifts on the day of the event are 9am - 2pm or 1.45pm - 6.45pm

Armed Forces Day - 1 month to go!

📆 Sunday 28 June 2026, 11am - 4pm
📍 Broad Street and Forbury Gardens, Reading

Reading will come together to honour and remember those who sacrificed so much during the World Wars and all those who have served and are still serving in the Armed Forces.

The day will feature:
- performances by the Reading Scottish Pipe Band
- local Armed Forces Representatives
- information stalls and activities from Armed Forces charities

5,4,3,2,1 blast off!

Reading loves reading launches tomorrow Saturday 23 May with events and crafts across Reading Libraries

Help decorate a rocket at your local library on launch day, take part in half term crafts, enter our art competition to win a family ticket to Reading Rep's Christmas panto and of course sign up the whole family to Reading loves reading!

The mission for primary school children is to read 6 books over three visits to the library. All finishers will receive a certificate and small prize, and can enter into a branch prize draw to win one of 7 Lego sets. They can also enter our colouring competition to win a family ticket to Reading Rep's Christmas panto.

Book Bingo is back for teens and adults. Complete a line on your bingo card over 3 visits to the library to enter a prize draw for a chance to win vouchers.

Last year 1,863 children and 540 adults took part in Reading loves reading and we want to see this number rocket! Children can challenge parents, carers and even their teachers to read alongside them.
