Celebrate Reading’s languages, cultures and multilingualism with a week of exciting events for everyone!

Join the University of Reading from 2-6 November 2026 for language and culture workshops, foreign-language film screenings with expert introductions and Q&As, and opportunities to explore Reading’s international connections.

Local secondary schools are invited to book language taster sessions and interactive activities in French, German, Italian and Spanish brought by the Department of Languages and Cultures at the University of Reading (2-3 & 5-6 November) and join the Languages on Campus Day on Wednesday 4 November.

❗ Due to the forecast weather conditions, the Diwali Light It Up Festival, originally planned for Saturday 24 October in the Town Centre, has been rescheduled to Saturday 7 November.

The safety of visitors, performers, staff and everyone involved is the priority.

The new date falls during the Diwali weekend, and Kala The Arts look forward to welcoming everyone to celebrate together on 7 November in the Town Centre. For more information visit the link in the comments.

Would you like to get away from your desk, get some exercise, meet new people and get to know our great town of Reading a little better? 🚶🏻

The Mayor of Reading Cllr Paul Gittings and Caroline and Liz from Walk Works are looking forward to Reading residents joining them for a lunchtime fundraising walk around the town centre this Wednesday, 21 October.

They'll be setting off from the Forbury Bandstand at 12.30pm for a guided walk in and around Reading town centre. The walk is approximately 2-3 miles long and will take around 45 minutes.

All money raised will go to the Mayor's chosen charities: ABC to read, Refugee Support Group and Sport in Mind.

To book your place, please sign up via the link in the comments. There is a suggested donation of £6 to take part in the walk.
