🏡 BRING YOUR FULL FREE ALLOWANCE IN ONE VISIT!

Every household continues to be entitled to a free DIY waste allowance of 400 litres OR up to four bulky DIY items every four weeks.

Previously, you may have needed to spread your allowance across multiple visits. Now, if you haven’t used any of your allowance in the previous four weeks, you can bring your full allowance in one visit!

✅ 400 litres of DIY waste, or up to four bulky items, depending on the type of waste
✅ Your allowance resets every four weeks
✅ More flexibility to plan your DIY projects and recycling centre visits

These changes follow a review of the service and build on legislation introduced in 2023, making DIY waste recycling simpler and more convenient for residents.

📍 Plan your next visit to a re3 recycling centre and make the most of your free allowance! Check the updated Waste Acceptance Policy here https://re3.fccenvironment.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Revised-WAP-October-2026.pdf

Edit:
Normal service is now expected to resume on 6th October (day earlier than expected).

🚧 Temporary restrictions at Longshot Lane Recycling Centre

Please be aware that temporary restrictions are currently in place at Longshot Lane Recycling Centre while essential ground works are carried out.

The work is addressing significant cracking and a dip in the ground caused by underground water eroding the subbase. Drainage and resurfacing works are being carried out to help keep the site safe for residents and staff.

While the work is underway, the lower section of the site is closed and the following materials cannot be accepted:
🌳 Wood and garden waste
📦 Cardboard
🧱 Plasterboard
🌱 Soil and hardcore

Residents are asked to use the Reading site or, if possible, hold onto these materials until normal services are expected to resume on 7 October.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.

Day one of my journey to the national grid. Recycle me in your food waste bin, and as I break down, I can be used to produce energy!

One of the biggest surprises at the re3 pop-up shop? A glorious grandfather clock! 🕰️

It wasn't the only unusual find at the recent event at Finchampstead Baptist.

Residents also snapped up guitars, bikes, furnitures drones and a wide range of pre-loved items looking for a new home.

The pop-up shop raised more than £700 for Berkshire Women's Aid, which is re3 Recycling's charity of the year, while helping give unwanted items a second life.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and came along to support the event.

Recycle me, and it’ll save enough energy to charge your phone!
Don’t make me leave the group chat.

I was almost binned, triggering, I know.
Recycle me, and I could come back as a brand new spray bottle (squeaky clean, obviously). Let me spray another day!
