It was great to have Wes Streeting campaigning in Reading last week.

He praised the work of the Labour led Council in supporting the people of Reading.

Reading is frequently judged to be one of the top ten places in the UK where people want to live, work, raise a family and grow old, as well as being one of the country’s greenest urban areas.

It was wonderful to welcome Ed Miliband to Reading and to visit the eco flats for key workers at the former Arthur Hill Pool.

Ed was in reading to raise awareness of the Government’s Warm Homes Plan, which will upgrade up to 5 million homes and lift up to a million people out of fuel poverty by 2030.

And, to recognise the work by Reading Borough Council to provide the new flats for key workers who otherwise might find it harder to get good quality affordable housing.

The flats have air sourced heat pumps and triple glazing, ensuring low bills and helping to tackle the climate emergency.

Today we collected 34 crates of food and received £220 in donations to our two charities, Readifood and New Beginnings. We want to thank all those in Park and Redlands wards who gave so generously. Many thanks to all the people who came to help on the stall including our MP Matt Rodda, our mayor Alice Mpufo-Coles, and our candidates, Roy from Redlands and Joseph from Park.

Fantastic support for the half marathon yesterday, the Reading community turned out in great numbers to support Matt and thousands of others, with lots of runners fund raising for good causes.
