Have you booked your team onto the Mayor of Raunds' Charity Quiz Night yet? 👀

Tickets cost £15pp, with either a fish & chips or veggie pizza & chips supper included. A raffle will also take place during the event, with tickets available to purchase on the night.

Bring a team of six brainiacs and see how much you know!

All proceeds go to the Mayor's chosen charities: Prostate Cancer UK and East Northants First Responders.

Last week, the Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Bill Cross, was delighted to present a £500 cheque to East Northants First Responders last week on behalf of Raunds Town Council.

The grant was awarded to fund the purchase of a training defibrillator, which will be used to develop the skills of the charity's volunteer responders and support defibrillator awareness and training within the local community.

East Northants First Responders are local volunteers trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service to attend emergency 999 calls, often arriving before an ambulance. In a serious medical emergency, the actions taken in the first few minutes can be critical. By supporting the purchase of this equipment, the Town Council's grant will help the First Responders continue to develop and share potentially life-saving skills.

Last week, the Mayor and Mayoress of Raunds, Cllr Bill Cross and Marilyn Cross, visited Maggie's Northampton at Northampton General Hospital to learn more about the support the charity provides to people affected by cancer and their families.

The Mayor and Mayoress met Jenni, a Centre Fundraiser, and were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the centre, learning more about how the charity and its volunteers operate and support people visiting the centre throughout the day.

Although based at Northampton General Hospital, Maggie’s provides support to people affected by cancer across Northamptonshire, including residents of Raunds and the surrounding area. The service is completely free and does not require an appointment.

Yesterday's Coffee Afternoon received a special visitor, with the Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Bill Cross, attending the monthly event.

The Mayor said:" I would like to give thanks to Raunds W.I and the wonderful reception I received at yesterday's Board Game Coffee Afternoon. The competitiveness was very evident and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and look forward to attending more in the future."

On Thursday 23 July, the Mayor of Raunds, Councillor Bill Cross, and the Mayoress, Marilyn Cross, hosted a successful Charity Steak Night at The World Upside Down, Raunds.

The sold-out event raised an incredible £375 for the Mayor’s chosen charities, East Northants First Responders & Prostate Cancer UK.

ENFR is run by volunteers who live in the local community, who are trained to attend 999 calls prior to an ambulance arriving.

Prostate Cancer UK raises awareness and funds lifesaving research for what is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK.

The Mayor wishes to thank all those who attended and supported the event.

Raunds Town Council is proud to have unveiled a new Community Football Goal at Bassfords Recreation Ground on Marshalls Road.

The project was made possible by a £5,000 Community Funding Grant from North Northamptonshire Council and match funding from Raunds Town Council, and was officially unveiled on Tuesday 7 July by the Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Bill Cross, alongside Raunds Town Councillors.

The new goal aims to:
⚽Promote Health: Encourage residents of all ages to live healthier, more active lives.
⚽Enhance the Park: Make the recreation ground a safer, more vibrant, and welcoming space.
⚽Build Community: Bring local people together and foster connections through sport.

Residents will also have the opportunity to enjoy the new facility during the Raunds Summer Picnic on Sunday 12 July, where football-themed games will be taking place alongside a range of family activities. The event runs from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, admission is free, and everyone is welcome! 🧺

Yesterday, 2nd Raunds Cubs visited Raunds Town Hall to meet with the Mayor of Raunds, Councillor Bill Cross.

They were able to have a mock councillors meeting, talking with the mayor about the coat of arms and the crest of the town.

They also took part in a colouring competition - congratulations to the winner, who shook hands with the mayor and won a box of Maltesers!

A great evening was had all around. Many thanks to 2nd Raunds Cubs for being fantastic guests - we hope you had fun and learnt more about our town.
