In this week's East Lothian Courier column, I write about the cuts that the Scottish Government has made to our local services in East Lothian.
Our council has lost out on more than £50 million over the past decade, as a result of the Scottish Government's decisions.
That means it is now the third-worst funded council per head of population in Scotland, despite also being the second fastest-growing council area. I have called for an urgent focus on empowering local communities and securing fair resources for councils across Scotland.
