Preston Wings Centre

Preston Wings Centre Activities, events and services for the RAF Family, Armed Forces Community and the wider community. Our amazing team look forward to meeting you!

Preston Wings Centre
In March 2016 the Royal Air Forces Association started a befriending scheme to provide one to one support for those in need of companionship. The Wings Centre will offer a group setting to get involved with the association and aims to offer a safe meeting place for our members and beneficiaries to come along and share experiences whilst building new friendships. We will develo

p a rolling program of facilitated activities and events reflecting the desires of the local community; making the Wings Centre a hive of activity for those interested in the Armed Forces community. It links nicely to our befriending scheme, offering support to those who need it or a link to the Association via a group setting. Our activities and events are open to the wider public and will act as a bridge between the Armed Forces community and the people of Preston. If you have ideas for activities or skills to share with others please pop into the Wings Centre at 82-83 Fishergate, Preston, PR1 2NJ, or contact [email protected]

cross posting to Wings friends...

For the wings friends, Hope August Holidays went well. How do we feel like another get together, 2nd weekend of September? First is the Military Show, so 2nd weekend looks a better prospect.

It is with a heavy heart that The Wings Centre and its team have to announce that it will be shutting its door permanently.

RAFA has been forced to review its finances, like a lot of other charities, during these unprecedented times. But that unfortunately means that we will not be able to open again.

Without every bodies help and support, we could not have become the award winning centre we became. But not only that, many of the members found friendship with others whilst using the centre, and we are so sad to see it go.

It has been a great pleasure being part of the efforts to help veterans, and we hope in the future a Wings Phoenix will rise again.

Bryn, the centre manager has been offered a new role with Walking With the Wounded and shall be starting there in September.

Mark, the volunteer manager, alongside some of the other volunteers will still be able to sign post you for a while to other services available in the area, and by RAFA. Just drop this page a message and we shall see what we can do.

In the mean time, we thank you all for helping us make the Wings Centre a home for many.

From all of us at the Wings Centre, goodbye for now.

Saturday 27th June 2020 is Armed Forces Day here in the UK. This year we are unable to celebrate as we would wish but nonetheless take this opportunity to thank and salute all those who are serving and have served in our armed services.
We hope to open up again soon so that we can continue to provide welfare and support to veterans who visit the Preston Wings Centre.

We are delighted that our support to members of the armed forces and veterans has been recognised and all at the Wings Centre are delighted and proud to have received notification that we have been awarded the NW RFCA Lord Lieutenants Certificate of Commendation.

Remember the RAF Association is the charity that supports the RAF family so, if you have or know of a member of the RAF family with a current welfare problem be assured that the Association is still actively providing welfare support.
