Remembering Tarquin Scott
It was with great sadness that the Friends of Winckley Square learned of the death of our dear friend Tarquin Scott, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home.
Tarquin was a much-valued Friend and generous supporter of our work. He attended many of our events, and his warmth, enthusiasm and friendship made him a very special member of our Friends family.
Many will particularly remember Tarquin from our annual Regency Promenade Walk. For years, he generously opened the beautiful garden of Overleigh House for the final stop on our Regency Promenade where afternoon tea was enjoyed. Tarquin was a wonderful host, welcoming everyone and sharing stories about the history of the house and his family, particularly his parents, of whom he was immensely proud. He would read poems from his mother's published book with great emotion. His warmth and hospitality made those afternoons especially memorable.
A Love of Music and Storytelling
Music was an important part of Tarquin's life. An aspiring musician himself, he hosted music events at his home, bringing people together to enjoy live performances. He was also co-presenter of Spark Storytelling at Ham and Jam, later the Guild Ale House. His love of music, stories and good company reflected his natural ability to bring people together.
Tarquin was a warm, loving and immensely friendly man with a wide circle of friends. Anyone who attended his 60th birthday celebration will remember Overleigh packed with people; a wonderful reflection of the affection in which he was held.
For the Friends of Winckley Square, Tarquin was much more than a supporter. He was our friend. We will remember him in the garden of Overleigh, chatting with our Regency promenaders; a very happy image by which to remember him.
Our thoughts are with Tarquin's family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed, and we feel privileged to have known him. We will remember him with enormous affection.
