The Funeral of WO2 (retd) Eddie Brown MBE

1. Eddie Brown’s funeral will take place on Friday 4th December 2020 in Liverpool. It will be in two locations:

a. 0945hrs Requiem Mass at St Joseph’s RC Church 40 Warren Rd, Blundellsands, Crosby, Liverpool L23 6UE.

b. 1120hrs cremation at Anfield Crematorium 238 Priory Rd, Anfield, Liverpool L4 2SL.

2. Given Covid-19 Tier 2 regulations those permitted to attend the church and crematorium services is restricted. Sadly, if you are not on the nominal roll we are required to give to the two venues, then you will not be able to attend the services.

3. All those attending the services indoors, unless medically exempt, will be required to wear a face mask.

4. I know many Kingsman wish to show their respects. I suggest Anfield Crematorium is the most suitable place to ‘line the route’ observing social distancing and Tier 2 regulations. I would think being in place by 1100hrs would ensure you do not miss Eddie. I know his family will very much appreciate this. Wear what you wish, it’s up to you, but any regimental berets, blazers and medals would be most welcome. Don't sweat it though, your presence is the most important thing.

5. By kind permission of the padre, Father Martin Caddell, we will be able to live stream Eddie’s Requiem Mass on the internet. It will not be ‘open to the world’ but just for us and therefore secure. Graham Taylor and Tex Hennessey are leading on this. I will post details of the link, as will Graham and Tex when we have it.

6. Pall bearers and standard bearers. Please be on parade at St Joseph’s by 0915hrs at the latest. If you have them beret, blazer, regimental tie and of course medals. You will also be required at the crematorium. Bearer party:

IC

Joe Smith

Pall bearers:

Dave Pickett
Degga Edmonds
Graham Taylor
Joe McGowan
Mal Kirk
Pat Brady

7. Standard bearers:

Stan Castell BEM
Kenny Mallam
Ian Williams.

8. Bugler: Musician Huxley (required only at Anfield Crematorium only).

9. Family flowers only, donations to cancer charities welcome.

Any questions, please ask in comments on this FB post as others may have the same question.

I will be going with the family and Lt Col Tony Hollingsworth MBE to the chapel of rest on Wednesday to pay our private respects and dress Eddie's coffin with the regimental flag.

Good morning, hope you are all keeping well and all safe

It is my sad duty to report the death, at aged 87 of my uncle 22495327 Cpl John Daron Williams, The Manchester Regiment. Uncle John joined The Manchesters, in 1950. He served in BAOR at Spandau Prison, in West Berlin; and later on in The Malayan Campaign, where sadly, he was shot in the leg. He subsequently lost his leg and was invalided out of, not only the regiment he so loved but also the British Army. In later years he was an active member of The Manchester Regiment Association. He leaves a son, Michael, who has cared for him for the last years of his life. Uncle John reported to the Duty Room for the last time on Fri 20 Nov 20. Funeral arrangements are as follows: 1030 Mon 7 Dec 20 at The Manchester Crematorium. Anyone wishing to attend please call Michael on 07971 317 186 or please PM me directly.
