⭐ Madam Mayor attended a number of events this past week:

✂️ The Mayor attended the opening of the Rowan unit at Dovehaven Lodge Ingol to cut the ribbon. A place for people with Dementia and other complex issues.

🧵 The High sheriff of Lancashire’s Gathering of Mayors visit to Queen Street Mill Museum Textile Factory. A very interesting visit with demonstrations of how the looms and machinery worked to make cotton items.

🎸 A charity event at Brookfield Hall relaunched mental health service 'Freea', for women facing domestic violence. They are expanding into Preston working collaboratively with Hope Prevails Preston. Madam Mayor joined young music band playing guitar!

⭐ Students from Runshaw college met with the Mayor whilst on work experience with Shout Connect. They presented their work on Preston’s Town Twinning project which was exceptional .

⭐ Madam Mayor enjoyed another week of activities amongst Preston's communities.

❤️ Madam Mayor attended Rosemere Cancer Foundation Eid charity dinner alongside Professor Munawar and the Rosemere team. £10K was raised on the evening and Madam Mayor gave a speech highlighting the importance of research and treatment which are life lines to cancer patients, she also thanked all that contributed to this worthwhile cause.

🌞 Goosnargh and Whittingham Whitsuntide Festival was a lot of fun on a lovely sunny day.

🍰 Goosnargh Methodist Church held an event for the opening of their new extension, Madam mayor attended their Sunday service and enjoyed an afternoon tea.

🫖 Afternoon Tea at Jalgos Sports & Social Club with seniors.
👥 Charity event Preston Islamic and community centre.

✨ The City of Preston welcomed Councillor Nweeda Khan as the 698th Mayor of Preston for 2026/2027.

The chosen charities for Madam Mayor are Macmillan Cancer Support, NSPCC and Sahara, all of which have a special meaning to Madam Mayor. Councillor Siraz Natha, is the new Deputy Mayor.

A fantastic night celebrating community at the Mayor’s Ball on Saturday 18 April at Masons Lodge. It was an honour to welcome Nick Park and his wife Mags Connolly-Park, and to share such a memorable evening with so many wonderful guests. ✨

On the evening, over £6,000 was raised for the Mayor's charities, a huge thank you to everyone who contributed.
