Today is the Global Day of Parents, a chance to recognise the dedication, love and resilience parents show every day across Lancashire.

We especially want to acknowledge our colleagues who balance the demands of firefighting and support roles with the equally important role of raising children.

We also recognise that today can bring mixed emotions for many. Our thoughts are with those who have lost a parent, those who are unable to have children, and parents who have experienced the loss of a child❤️

A reminder for anyone planning to spend time outdoors in Lancashire this week.

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) remains in place across moorland areas in Bolton, Blackburn with Darwen and Chorley to help protect our countryside from the risk of wildfires.

Under the PSPO, barbecues, campfires, camping stoves, fireworks and sky lanterns are prohibited. If you're heading outdoors, leave anything with a flame at home and pack a picnic instead.

Let's look after Lancashire together.

(In collaboration with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Bolton Council, South Ribble Borough Council, Chorley Council, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), Lancashire Police, Greater Manchester Police and Lancashire Resilience Forum)

With warm weather expected to continue across Lancashire this weekend, many people will be heading outdoors to enjoy the sunshine.

As temperatures rise, please remember a few simple steps to stay safe and help protect Lancashire:
• Open water can be colder and more unpredictable than it looks. Please avoid swimming in lakes, reservoirs and rivers.
• Dry conditions increase the risk of wildfires. Leave BBQs and campfires at home and pack a picnic instead.

Our crews are on duty 24/7, but we all have a part to play in keeping ourselves, others and Lancashire safe.
Let's enjoy the sunshine responsibly and look after Lancashire together.

Firefighters from Carnforth Fire Station joined crews from Silverdale Fire Station, Morecambe Fire Station and Bolton-le-Sands at Heysham Power Station last month for a Breathing Apparatus (BA) training exercise.

Using the onsite training rig, crews worked in realistic conditions involving live heat and smoke, a valuable opportunity to practise vital firefighting techniques and procedures in a high-pressure environment.

A great evening of training, teamwork and protecting the community.
