We provide fire and rescue services to the one-and-a-half million people living or working in Lancashire, on behalf of the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority. Operating from thirty-nine fire stations across the county, with our headquarters at Fulwood, Preston and our Leadership and Development Centre (Washington Hall) at Euxton. Where your next chapter begins.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals for the role of Fire Safety Inspector Grade 7.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have either Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety, or the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety and are passionate about supporting the protection of communities through effective fire safety regulation, inspection, and enforcement activities.

Location: Various locations with potential option of hybrid working where appropriate.
Salary: £39,152 - £42,839
Duty System: Full-time 36.25 hours per week (Flexitime working arrangements)

What are the biggest risks facing Lancashire and how do we prepare for them?

Our latest episode of Out of the Ashes: Stories from Lancashire takes a closer look at our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) for the next five years.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Steve Healey and Area Manager Tom Powell join us to explore what the CRMP is, why it is so important, and how we identify and respond to the risks facing communities across Lancashire.

From changing demand on the fire and rescue service and the risks of fires, flooding and wildfires, to prevention, protection, emergency response and working with our partners, we explore how the CRMP will shape the work we do over the next five years.

We also look at how the views of our staff, communities and partners have already helped shape the draft. More than 2,000 people shared their views with us earlier this year and now we want to hear from you again.

We know… hearing the word autumn might feel a little scary.

But you must have spotted at least one pumpkin spice candle in the shops by now.

If you’re getting your home ready for cosy autumn evenings, remember to take care when burning candles.

When it’s time to put your candle out, use a snuffer or carefully dip the wick into the melted wax using a suitable wick dipper.

This helps extinguish the flame safely and reduces smoke and the risk of hot wax splashing.

And remember: never leave a burning candle unattended.

Firefighters from Hornby Fire Station were joined by crews from Silverdale Fire Station, Carnforth Fire Station and Lancaster Fire Station for an evening of Breathing Apparatus (BA) training.

Working across stations, firefighters took part in realistic scenarios designed to develop their communication, teamwork and ability to operate safely in challenging conditions.

Training together like this helps crews understand how to work effectively alongside other teams, while keeping their operational skills fresh and building confidence for real incidents.

Today's focus is wildfire awareness.

Wildfires can happen at any time of year, but warm, dry conditions allow them to spread quickly, putting people, wildlife, homes and our countryside at risk.

Here are a few simple ways you can help:

Around your home:
✓ Clear leaves and debris from gutters.
✓ Keep flammable materials, such as log piles and compost heaps, away from buildings.

When you're out enjoying Lancashire
✓ Leave disposable BBQs at home and pack a picnic instead.
✓ Dispose of ci******es safely and never throw them from car windows.
✓ Take all litter home with you.

It only takes one spark.

Today is the day!

Join us at Ormskirk Fire Station 10am to 3pm, for a day packed with exciting demonstrations, family activities, food and fun.

A quiet hour will take place from 10am to 11am to help make the event more accessible for everyone.

Activities include:
• Rescue demonstrations, including RTC and rope rescue drills
• Meet Lancashire Police, Army Cadets and Air Cadets
• Family activities including face painting, a bouncy castle and beat the goalie
• Explore the smoke tent and meet Welephant
• Biker Down and Community Fire Safety displays

Food and refreshments will be available, and we will be raising money for Fire Fighters Charity with support from partners including HSBC.

Bring your friends and family and come and meet your local firefighters. We look forward to welcoming you. 🚒

Heading off to university this month? Make fire safety part of your moving-in checklist!

Whether you’re moving away from home for the first time or into new student digs, follow these simple tips to keep yourself and your housemates safe:

• Take care when cooking - never leave food unattended and don’t cook if you’ve been drinking or are really tired.

• Don’t overload plug sockets and switch off electricals when you’re finished using them.

• Charge phones and laptops on a hard surface, never on a bed or sofa, and avoid charging overnight.

• Know where your fire alarms, exits and door/window keys are, and keep escape routes clear.

• Know your escape route and have a backup plan if your usual way out is blocked.

And remember… we’re here to keep you safe, not crash the party!

We are looking for a Community Safety Advisor; who will be to help make Lancashire a safer community through promoting and advising on community fire safety and the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.

Community Safety Advisors deliver training packages to groups of people, so applicants must have the ability to present information to small groups.
A driving licence and the availability of a suitable vehicle for business use are also essential.

Salary: £30,515 - £33,119

Location: Western Area - Blackpool Fire Station, 62 Forest Gate Blackpool FY3 9RA
Hours: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexitime working arrangements.

The crew Haslingden Fire Station have been putting their ladder skills into practice, carrying out a drill involving the 10.5m ladder being deployed below ground level.

Firefighters practised using the rope pack, including selecting and tying the correct knots to secure and safely lower the ladder for firefighter access.

The crew then worked together to recover the ladder back to ground level, putting communication, teamwork and safe working practices into action.

Regular training helps our crews maintain the skills and confidence needed to use specialist equipment safely when responding to challenging incidents.
