Did you know there is a mandatory, legal requirement for all home-based, food catering businesses (even if temporary) to inform their Council’s Environmental Health department at least 28 days before opening/ starting to trade? There is no charge for this service.

This applies to shops, cafes, restaurants, food stalls and businesses operating from home, markets and vans.

If you buy food for yourself or others, keep yourself safe by making sure your caterer is registered.

If they cater, then must register!

We won! 🙌

Our Quilt of Kindness won FIRST prize today at the Harris Open 2026 from 407 entries!

Thank you to all the lovely ladies from the Catherine Beckett Centre and Masjid Saliheen, Broadgate who worked on the Quilt over many months last year . Their hard work and artistic flair is reflected in this incredible work of art.

They crafted each square with love and attention, and dedicated the Quilt to Prestonians new and old. Those who were born in Preston, and those who have chosen to make Preston their home. Our women were immigrants, resettlers, survivors of trauma and domestic abuse. They’re daughters, mums, aunties, grandmas. They are you and me.

They were united by a common mission to show that art elevates and transcends. That something extraordinary is created when we come together.

We hope this quilt will serve as a permanent reminder that Preston is a city of safety, sanctuary and solidarity.

Thanks also to our staff members Fin, Naseem, Nurul and Sama for their expert guidance and valuable input. The Quilt wouldn’t have been possible without you! 🙏

The UK cleaning industry is worth £59 billion and employs 1.47million people. The industry is massively important to the nation. It’s an essential service.

The UK cleaning industry is also overwhelmingly female, with over half of its workforce aged over 45 years, and from a minoritised background.

According to the Living Wage Foundation, wages are close to, or even below, the minimum wage. Many cleaners feel their service is invisible and underpaid. They believe they aren’t shown the dignity and respect all staff deserve.

To counteract this unacceptable reality, we’re launching The Clean Collective, in conjunction with and .

This structured business programme for cleaners follows the successful ‘Lady Boss’ model, and aims to support home- based cleaners incorporate and flourish as a business. If you’re working as a cleaner, or know someone who is, this is the programme for you.
