Go Husky!

Amongst SO MANY other wonderful books, I feel chuffed to have been shortlisted for the lovely book awards in the Older Fiction category.

It’s always nice to get a shortlisting for one of your books. All that hard effort, the ups & downs of the writing journey, the sheer slog sometimes (not that this book was a slog, but it very much was a race against the clock!) so any form of recognition is always gratifying.

Thanks to Levi for his epic cover, my editor, Lucy for being head musher & my entire team for being the best pack ever.

Good luck writer & illustrator buddies!

The Summer Reading Challenge is fast approaching and we're on the look out for young volunteers willing to help! If you are aged 13-25, love reading and want to help encourage younger children to complete the Challenge during the summer holidays then we want to hear from you!

In this role you will sign children up to the Summer Reading Challenge and talk to them about the books they’ve read as the challenge progresses throughout the summer holiday.

You can apply by either popping into your local library for an application form or you can express interest online at https://volunteer.hiveportsmouth.com/opportunities/summer-reading-challenge-volunteer-2026-11420/

Closing date is Monday 13 July.

📚 Grab a Book, Spark a Story! 🌟
The School Library Service visited us and held a fantastic “Great Book Grab” for our children. Pupils had the opportunity to explore a huge range of books and even take one home for free!

There was so much excitement and joy around reading, with children discovering new stories and authors to enjoy at home. 🌟

This afternoon, we were delighted to welcome staff from the Portsmouth School Library Service who hosted a ‘book grab’ for our children. Every class visited the shop and chose a book each to take home and keep. The children loved making their selections and we hope you enjoy sharing it with them at home. 📖 ⭐️
